Welp….

Texas state Rep. Bryan Slaton (R) allegedly had an “inappropriate relationship” with an underage female intern, according to an internal complaint obtained by the Texas Tribune. Slaton, who is married, allegedly called the intern after 10 p.m. on Friday, March 31, and invited her to his Austin apartment. A source who works in the Capitol with direct knowledge of the incident told the Tribune that the intern was under 21 and that Slaton drank alcohol with her. Two of his fellow Republicans have now called on him to resign.

A legislative staffer filed the complaint with the House General Investigating Committee. Per that complaint, Slaton comes pretty close to blackmailing the intern: He allegedly showed her fake emails that he claimed contained information about their meetup days later and then told her not to talk about it. Sources described it to the Tribune as “something of a loyalty test”:

Fyi, Slaton looks like a fat middle aged guy, got to be at least 40, although being a fat guy they sometimes look older. The article simply says the intern was under 21.

Super creepy at best, although if he's a fat married 40 year old and this is a 20 year old intern, creepy but just that. Really provided she's 18+, which I do think is gross, but nothing other than and old fat guy being a creep. If she's younger, it gets exponentially worse with every year under 18.

Btw, bad title OP. This isn't a Texas thing, it happens all over. Texas is a large state, something like 30,000,000 people in it -- that's a lot of state representatives and a lot of chances for any scumbag politician, which is both parties, to get exposed being a creep (or worse).

Don't have time to google the story but is the intern "underage" or just under 21? Kind of an important distinction.
Regardless of that, the guy should resign for not knowing that only Democrats get a pass on raping their interns (Biden) and showering with their teenage daughters (Biden) and groping small kids. (Biden)

So she's 18-20 yrs old and he wanted her to drink like she does with friends. If he merely offered drinks, didn't try to pressure her into drinking, I don't see the big deal. A bit unprofessional, just like inviting her over after work hours is. Chances are he was hoping to get in them sugarwalls. In the off chance he wasn't trying to get in them, it was dumb of him to invite her over in the first place.
