can you maintain muscle mass by doing moderate weight?
as I box at the same time and doing both heavy lifting and boxing I find is very taxing and I can't recover before I box so I was thinking of going lighter a bit to moderate weight.

You can maintain muscle mass without lifting as long as your diet is right. And most bodybuilders do not lift heavy weight. Ronnie Coleman is a husk of a man because of said heavy weights.

aslong as you stimulate the muscle enough and bring it to failure it doesnt really matter
100 reps or 5 reps failure is failure
but why would you waste time doing 100 reps when you could do 8 - 12
anything less than 6 and you're most likely not using the intended muscle for the lift imo

what about farmer's muscle or whatever...they work on the farm lifting crap and just generally doing work. most of what they are doing probably isn't near some max and they don't count reps. if they aren't eating too much they just maintain a certain degree of lean muscle

Maintain, yes. Depends on your goals. You trying to be an actual bodybuilder or a fit, lean guy? If the latter, you don't have to always go heavy. I've always kind of preferred stuff like jumping squats with a light weight (20-30 dbs in each hand) and using kettlebells. It saves time and maintains. Go heavy (3-6 reps) just once in awhile to keep from going stagnant.
Yeah Buddyyy! Light weight! Light weight baby!!!!
