WRONG... OP hasn't noticed that when stores accept returns they scan the original receipt to call up the original transaction, and then they scan the item to log it back into inventory.....

Exactly, faking receipts is nothing new.... and a man can get some serious jail time if caught doing this....


All retailers use real-time inventory management systems. Which is why I can buy an item from a Walmart in San Diego and return it to a Walmart in Los Angeles. And it doesn't matter if I pay with cash or card, the original receipt will ALWAYS be scanned to track the movement of the item from one store's inventory to another store's inventory.


A thief with higher than double-digit IQ would realize that it'd be a better idea just to go to San Francisco and steal TVs from Walmart and hardware from Home Depot and sell it on craigslist or offerup... Why the f/ck would someone be dumb enough to walk into a retailer with stolen merch and a fake receipt. These stores have cameras. Try this a few times and you'd be hit felony fraud charges...
