28 Republicans Who Call People Groomers Voted Against Bill Addressing Child Sex Abuse

For the past year, we’ve been subjected to an endless, escalating right-wing fearmongering campaign presenting LGBTQ adults as innate child sexual predators, or “groomers,” and any children in their vicinity as victims. People are literally throwing molotov cocktails into establishments that host drag events, under the guise of protecting children. The now-feuding Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) have been the most front-facing proponents of this rhetoric (even though Boebert’s husband was jailed for exposing himself to teens in a bowling alley a few years ago).

Yet, on Wednesday, Greene and Boebart joined 26 other House Republicans to vote against the bipartisan Respect for Child Survivors Act, which overwhelmingly passed out of the House anyway and will address how the FBI has historically mishandled child sexual abuse cases. The bill will create specific teams within the FBI to support child victims and investigate child sexual abuse, trafficking, and child abuse content.Neither Greene nor Boebert have publicly offered explanations for their votes, and frankly, they don’t have to—the gross hypocrisy of constantly lying that LGBTQ people pose a threat to children, all while declining to protect children from actual sexual predation, speaks for itself.

Republicans should be locked up.

It certainly isn’t a good look that they didn’t explain why they voted against it.
I would like to see what else is in the bill.
Don’t we already have departments in law enforcement and the FBI that deal with these things already?

You shouldn't be a part of the jogger rabbi rapist Democratic party either, Brobot.

Anthony Weiner (D-NY) was convicted of sending sexually explicit photos of himself to a 15-year-old girl and was mandated to register as a sex offender. He also was sentenced to 21 months in prison, a charge that was later reduced to 18 months. He reported to prison in November 2017 and was released in May 2019 (2017).

Mel Reynolds (D-IL) was convicted on 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography (1997). He was later convicted of 12 counts of bank fraud (1999)

Wade Sanders (D) Deputy Assistant United States Secretary of the Navy, for Reserve Affairs, was sentenced to 37 months in prison on one charge of possession of child pornography (2009)

Al Franken (D-MN) Franken's fall was stunningly swift: he resigned only three weeks after Leeann Tweeden, a conservative talk-radio host, accused him of having forced an unwanted kiss on her during a 2006 U.S.O. tour. Seven more women followed with accusations against Franken; all of them centered on inappropriate touches or kisses.

Bill Clinton- PRESIDENT, Monikka Lewinski.

The Queermo brothers; Andie Cuomo, the 56th governor of New York, was accused of sexual harassment by multiple women starting in December 2020, with the accusations covering a range of alleged behavior. He denied all allegations and has apologized for his comments being interpreted as sexually charged.

Chris Cuomo, newly fired from CNN, faces an allegation of sexual misconduct. Chris Cuomo was fired by CNN after an attorney arranged to share materials supporting accusations by a former colleague of Cuomo's at ABC News that he had sexually harassed her there.

I am sure there was nothing else in that bill that they objected to. Couldn't possibly be that.

I already asked that. Apparently he doesn’t want an actual discussion.
Also, I assumed that those departments already existed in Law enforcement and the FBI.

Probably because all these culture wars are a distraction meant to keep you from realising you're on the losing side of what is actually a class war.
