Ukrainian war could have ended over one year ago.

Apparently Putin oddly offered not to kill Zelensky which gave the latter the courage to keep sacrificing his country's troops. If for whatever odd reason he didn't want to kill Zelensky then at least oust him from his position so he can't escalate the conflict. This was back in February 2022 which means it would have ended the following March.

But instead a billion people in the rest of the world have to go through a recession, inflation, etc for I don't know what reason.

We left Afghanistan a few months before the Ukraine conflict kicked off, and the military-industrial complex got to get paid ALWAYS.

you want to live with the comforts and freedoms you have? well, people elsewhere have to die for it. and i guess some of our own, too but they are soldiers and know what they signed up for.

thankfully with ukicels, it's not our boys who are dying, but theirs so it's a win win

false dichotomy and ridiculous assertion

And you guys don't understand. This isn't some imperial quest. Putin sees this as the sacred duty of Russia to defeat nazism and halt NATO's influence.

The bold part is important.

Remember when the USA LITERALLY TRIED TO INVADE ITS NEIGHBOR (Cuba) because it turned Communist? People forget so easily.

Russians were counting on their economy/military tactics/equipment being stuck in the mud, as is in their case.

They don't understand and have come to hate the fact that the countries who departed from the USSR were and are looking ways to progress not regress.

black sea is at stake and effectively naval ability

please explain how? one thing to have a counter argument, another to just say "wrong"

the nazism angle is just talking point for him. i do agree with nato influence but this ultimately goes to how neutured russia becomes if it loses the black sea. which is why it doesn't give as much of a fuk about finalnd/sweden joining nato because the baltic isn't as crucial

less about it being communist per se, more about it aligning with the enemy at the time. communism was just seen as an allying with the enemy, nothing inherently worrying about "communism" boogieman to our direct way of life--either way the reason for the invasion was that russia was going to put nukes in cuba and we can't have our neighboring country have our enemy's weapons pointed at us.

we would be crazy to let that happen

The nazism angle is not just a talking point. In fact, it's largely the cause of the war. Look into it. I don't have the patience to list everything as I have done so way too many times in the Russia thread. Suffice it to say that Ukrainian ultranationalist and anticommunist forces repeatedly marginalized ethnic Russians, and it reached a boiling point when they started murdering them. Ukraine refused peace and any attempts at granting some level of autonomy to the ethnic Russian territories. Russia invaded when America looked weak and as a last resort to guarantee their security.

Almost like the perpetual wars are only useful in screwing the average American and when we're not getting bled dry, we actually do really well.

Yeah but it doesn't feel like enough for the U.S population. Surely the new problems caused by Russia and its allies are more damning to the U.S economy.

One of the few copes in my life is waking up everyday and opening news websites to see if Putin has finally dropped a nuke on Kiev.

Hopefully 2023 will be the year.

I wonder how the Ukrainian military, people and the people/government of other nations would feel if this rumour of immunity for Zelensky is true?

If true, that would mean he coaxed tens of thousands to die and billions in economic revenue lost for something he himself is protected from. Then there is the turmoil of the Ukrainians themselves and world economies.

The supporting governments should know about this..

Then if they cashed in at the very least they should the pay entire U.S debt and save millions of American jobs and the credit score.
