I recently picked up the bluray comp of all movies cheap used to play on my goat ps3.

I was always a fan of the extra cheese of the Roger Moore era.

I actually agree. He was a great bond. The villains were excellent and the storylines weren't goofy.

They are underrated but they're not the best. Goldfinger and From Russia with Love are the best.

Roger Moore is amazing as Bond and I can appreciate the camp but as movies they lack something imo

I finally saw all the Roger Moore, and Sean Connery James Bond movies. They were good, but the plot usually revolved around an Austin Powers like story, "Let's just hijack some nuclear weapons and hold the world hostage."

Timothy Dalton was more of a theater like actor, which showed. When you see him finally get revenge for Felix for example, he sort of breaks down knowing it doesn't change the fact that his best friend is missing a let, and that his wife is dead.

Dalton is a really good actor, he elevates all the shows he's in. He actually made Doom Patrol watchable. Series fell off a cliff when he left. He plays a good robber baron in 1923 too.

That's what makes it hilarious. Why does the villain always feed Bond, and tell him the plan?

I also love how Connery is practically a rapist in the movies.

After watching them I am sure you came to the same conclusion that I did in that Q must be a double agent.

How is it that he can always give Bond the exact gadget he will need for his mission every single time? Then magically Bond needs said gadget to get out of a jam. Q clearly has some knowledge of whats going to happen. Where does he get that knowledge if Bond himself doesnt have it?

Even in Spectre it was funny, "I'm just going to slowly torture you to death, while not restraining your new GF, and leaving you with your gadgets."

Dalton fit the role but his movies were the lowest production value of all of them.

Connery's best few Bond films will always be the peak but personally love Moore's top few Bond films as they had a cheesy fun vibe.

Depends what your tastes are. I like lots of them for different reasons, some are funny and 70s camp, some are iconic, some are action packed etc. My top 5:

1. Casino Royale
2. OHMSS (best Blowfeld, just a Chad charming bishes, ending...)
3. Moonraker (used to be bottom 5 but realized its so funny and a good time)
4. Goldeneye
5. Dr. No (lot of iconic moments)

Connery movies were the best due to his acting.

His character was the type who would have something entertaining and ironic to say just before he shoots you in the face.

Bond is a guy who was through wars, killed a lot of people, did super dangerous stuff, and still manages to be fun and good natured. He is also extremely sarcastic to bad people rather than mean or preachy.

There's a lot of scenes that are amusing where M gets tired of Bond always being right and knowing everything.

The other Bonds lack the realistic amusement of Connery's Bond. Instead, they went for direct comedy, which is not funny to me, or having Bond just a guy, thus making him less of an interesting character.

That end fight in GoldenEye has to be one of the best fights in Bond History. Think it was when Krav Maga was all the rage.

I think the type who liked Timothy Dalton are the same type who prefer Daniel Craig. They seem to like the more "realistic" approach to Bond.

Roger Moore and Pierce Brosnan were similar bonds, both leaning heavily into the fantasy side.

I think Sean Connery was the only Bond to really do a good blend of both.

I think Brosnan was sort of more like that, he was never really preachy, he just always seemed to know everything, handle every situation, and have some fun lines to deliver. Moore was always more of a comedic Bond, definitely the "goofy" or clownish Bond.

the Moore films had by far the highest production values. Best scripts, invention, decent budgets and attention to detail. Just so well crafted

Helped how they came out during the GOAT era of film making, back when standards were high and before they started on all that CGI crap.

Dalton actually looked like an assassin, that could physically handle himself, and when he was pissed off, you didn't want to be in his way.

Physically, Dalton is probably the closest to the character in the books, or maybe Brosnan?

In the novels (notably From Russia, with Love), Bond's physical description has generally been consistent: slim build; a 3 in (76 mm) long, thin vertical scar on his right cheek; blue-grey eyes; a "cruel" mouth; short, black hair, a comma of which rests on his forehead. Physically he is described as 1.83 m (6 ft 0 in) in height and 76 kg (168 lb) in weight.[27] During Casino Royale, a SMERSH agent carves the Russian Cyrillic letter "Ш" (SH) (for Shpion: "Spy") into the back of Bond's right hand; by the start of Live and Let Die, Bond has had a skin graft to hide the scars.[28]

I am a huge Brosnan fan and used to enjoy watching Remington Steele with my family, so I was happy when he got the part. Steele had a lot of realistic comedy to it and was enjoyable.

When he played Bond it started off solid and then got into a lot comedy stuff like wind surfing as a glacier fell apart into the ocean. That really killed me because I liked him in the movie a lot but it was getting back to Roger Moore era too much.

He was a good in the dramatic movies though and had the cold guy with a sense of humor down.

I read a couple of the books and they were good.

Bond was described as a guy who looks like a "thug" and I'm pretty sure that word was used.

So, all of the actors were too handsome except for Craig who looks like Barney Rubble from the Flintstones, in my opinion. He looks like an idiot more than a thug but is the most thuggish of the lot.

Not to mention the invisible car. The Brosnan Bonds turned into these ridiculous, CGI-heavy, dumbass blockbusters. The Craig Bonds course corrected a bit but still aren't as good as they can be imo.
