Any 100% P&T vets here?

Curious if anyone on here receives that rating. It’s basically retirement. I get paid just to wake up. However I still continue to wage slave as a lineman (power) mainly to support my family and I’m looking to pursue something more enjoyable. Would like to hear what others do

It seems like every veteran is on the disability welfare these days. Most of the guys I know that served got some percentage for some obscure thing.

Every vet I know is on 100%. They even know “fixer” type guys who know how to do all the paperwork etc to bump your numbers up.

It’s obviously bs, but whatever at least they served and put some kinda time in so I can’t hate

I don’t think you could be any more vague than that. Don’t get me wrong, I like my job and it pays well but when I start thinking about what jobs people pursue post retirement, being a lineman isn’t something that comes to mind. My job is physically and mentally draining and I want to explore other options. I’ll add unknown government contract work to my list of things to explore

I believe it man. My neighbor is a retired lineman. I have heard the stories.

I recommend it. You have a good in already, most of them have veteran preference.

I can’t speak about lineman at all, but man, the opportunities are seemingly endless with government contracting.

I don’t know if people realize how many different insane (in a good way) opportunities there are.

I am a very fortunate person though. I would understand if others did not feel the same way but I believe that to be true. I feel like military experience was much better than average as well.

I was enlisted before I commissioned, and was a ground guy before I became a pilot, I have the perspective to say that with confidence. I acknowledge the room for error.

I just hit 100 last month. working in the healthcare sector, management. I used VR+E to finish up my degree. look into that program, its excellent and you can use it more than once.

its permanent and total disability. basically if you have injuries or diseases that were acquired in the military, the government sends you a check every month to compensate you. the thinking is that if you did not have these conditions then you would be more successful so instead they send you some money. so basically veterans with 100% total and permanent disability. you can look up the VA rating scale to see how much it pays per month.

The difference between 90% and 100% is the most significant concerning the increase in benefits, and it is also much harder to achieve than any previous 10%.

The monthly check goes up by about 1K, and there are so many other state and federal benefits that come with it as well.

It does. I was in the military and didn't try to get shyt on the way out. However, so many abuse and exploit the shyt out of it (no hate on people that legit got fuked up receiving it).

You’re not giving me very much to work with here. I’d love to hear about these insane opportunities. Do you work FOR the government or contract your services out privately TO the government?

My perspective changed on it as well. If every single veteran was awarded 100% P&T it would be not even a drop in the bucket compared to what was spent on and profited from the manufactured war we served in

ill be happy if i get 10% for tinnitus from working around jets and loud ass machinery all day

i want to use the gi bill to become a pilot though at a 141 school. Looking into MTSU. 61 seems okay but don't want to shell out the 10-12k out of pocket for my ppl.

A few years ago there was word the GI bill was not going to cover flight schools anymore after so many people started doing it.

Man I hope I am wrong, for your sake.

If you do get into flight school, I have some words you may want to hear. I wish someone would have said them to me before I started. If you are interested in hearing them.

Yea I've been doing a bit of research on it - schools like MTSU and Liberty still take the GI bill. I've read that you might have to pay a small amount out of pocket but they're 4 year degrees so for the most part it's treated like regular university so you get full tuition + housing allowance.

Do you not fly anymore? I was looking into putting in an officer package but I'm kind of burnt out on the military, plus I'm pushing the age limit at least for the Navy.

I haven't really started any training - the most I've done is the discovery flight in a Cessna. I just don't want a boring office job or a hard manual labor job after I get out lol.

LOL....thats me, Im at 90%. I wish I had documented everything over the 23+ years, but such is life. Retired as a 1SG and maxed out on the pay scale, which is nice as it is.

I got 70% and got medical retirement without ever going through a med board.

I did 5 1/2 years and had a med board initiated while in. I was like, nah I'm good, what if I wanted to go back in after finishing school? Never went to the appointments and never told leadership. So I ETS'd, used my 9/11 gi bill then inquired about going back in as an Officer. Found out they put a code in my DD214 that said I was permanently disqualified from serving due to medical.


So I petitioned the Army board of records and said I had a med board initiated while in and by army regulations should have never been allowed to ETS. A year later, they gave me retirement and get tricare for life. The backpay I got was pretty cool I guess.

I'm in DC and currently onboarding a GS13 position and wife is a Dr. So life is on easy mode heh.

Maybe I should try and get a rating increase? I never really bothered, felt bad about getting 70% pay.

I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. That is what initiated my board. I do not fly. I am working with the FAA to get medically cleared again. It is not impossible. Don't apply your current burn out to the idea of continuing military service in aviation. It is a whole different world man. Your burnout will not go there with you. There is nothing than can hamper your satisfaction with that job. I would wake up in the middle of the night, take a second and remember what I did for a living and couldn't help but smile. If you can go the military route, do that. Not only do you not have to pay for flight school, you get paid to go to flight school. Pretty well. Especially as prior enlisted. I commissioned at my ten year mark and man let me tell you about that OE pay scale.....I made more than Majors as a Captain. Then you get to fly just for fun. ah hem, I mean "maintaining proficiency". (lol at these guys mad about VA benies. **** your pants at how much gas I have burned in my life)

If you have any opportunity to pursue that, you need to take it. You will be a different person, you will view the world differently. It is hard af. It hurts a lot. But when you get it, that just makes it so much more meaningful. Every lesson learned in aviation can be applied to general life. It is one of the greatest human accomplishments so far and I am so grateful to have been a part of it. I sincerely hope you get to feel that, even if it is just a Cessna working on a PPL.

Congratulations on your successful career! I imagine it was as equally frustrating and mind numbing as it was an amazing experience. That sucks about the last 10% thing, but I do get it.

If you can, I would recommend trying.

This mindset is insane. No one should feel bad for receiving benefits that are legally afforded to them. I hope you can over come that. You have done nothing wrong.
