SF Target forced lock up entire inventory due to shoplifting

A San Francisco Target store has been putting all of its cosmetic and toiletry products on lockdown amid a shoplifting crisis that has crippled retailers in the Golden Gate City.

Footage of the store’s interior posted to TikTok Thursday showed aisle after aisle of common drug store products under lock and key in the megachain.

While it’s common for stores to lock up small valuable items like razors, heaps of inexpensive large items like mouthwash, shampoo and lotion were also being kept out of reach of the grubby hands of would-be shoplifters, the clip showed.

The cosmetic confinement had been underway since at least October last year at the Folsom Street store near the city’s Mission District, according to WNCT-TV.

“Like other retailers, organized retail crime is a concern across our business. We’re taking proactive measures to keep our teams and guests safe while deterring and preventing theft,” a Target spokesperson said in a statement to The Post.

Imagine how long it would take you to purchase a couple dozen items. Honestly, why didn't they just move out of SF?

Why do you care? It's an isolated incident, do YOU live in San Francisco? How does this affect you?

They'll probably have to eventually.

Fukking Tide is locked up at the Walmart closest to me, just out of principle I'm not interested in finding an employee to unlock so I renewed the Costco membership and drive an extra 10 minutes.

I know, right. It's probably just an over reaction by Target so they can charge more for their products. Greedy corporatists...

Is that because the children are getting high on the Tidepods or because of the cost? Where do you live?

LOL you can get high on Tide Pods? Who knew.

It's all of the name brand stuff that I assume is locked because of theft by employees and customers.

Shoplifting is literally a rounding error for store profits. Just a blip on their quarterly spreadsheets.

Homeless and locals shoplifting

All 250 carts at the Wholefoods in SF disappeared on the first weekend. They need carts to shoplift and move their filth around

It's pretty crazy in San Fran right now. Engineers are robbing people in broad daylight. Not even safe in your car. Astronauts are literally scoping moving cars and breaking their window and taking stuff while people are in the car still. My aunt friend lives in SF and legit wants to move outta SF.

Whenever I see this stuff there is always people in the comments saying that it is massively fabricated and that the city really isn't that bad. I haven't been to SF since 2018 so I wouldn't know. Anyone have first hand experience?

Not a bad idea.

Soon it will be just a gigantic impenetrable soda machine that you put money into and it rolls out your shampoo.

My co-worker had his Cadillac Converter taken while he was at a Walgreens for 5 minutes, and he lives up in the North Side of Chicago.

Freedom of speech is a principle pillar of a free government; when this support is taken away, the constitution of a free society is dissolved and tyranny is erected on its ruins.

You know, that's not a bad idea. Maybe all retailers should charge a yearly membership fee and you can't enter the store without presenting your card.

I mean, since moat of us are typing all of this on a cellphone, there's gonna he errors. Never mind addressing the fact that my co-worker's "Catalytic" converter was stolen, while he was inside a Walgreens for a few minutes......

Never mind, ignoring the fact, that a good chunk of items are now behind cases in Walgreens and Target nowadays......

Nothing like spending 10 minutes in Walgreens, because you have to push a button, for some elderly employee to walk over, find the correct key, and open up.a case for deodorant.....

Why doesn't Target/stores etc in these areas only allow entry to those who hand over their Drivers license/ID and then pick it up after they're done shopping?
