Can't believe how much the gym culture has changed in 15 years

Starting to feel like an old man when I see this new generation of "lifters" at the gym. I first joined a gym when I was 21 and unknowingly to me it was the hardcore gym in town and it just had such a different vibe. Thought this was the norm for gym culture. Seen ifbb pros on he reg, as well as up and comers to the pro leagues. Everyone wore Gasp or ANIMAL shirts, otomix shoes and were just humble all around. Noone thought they were hot shi.t even though many of them should of had a justified self worth.

Now I go to a more commercial gym unfortunately and all I see is Brocoli top kids wearing gymshark, crocs (or no shoes at all), spend more time on their phone than actually lifting, flexing their little 13 pipe cleaner arms in the mirror after every set thinking they're hot shi.t. Overhear them talking and all I hear is tren tren tren or how cbum is the biggest bodybuilder ever

It sucks getting old misc enjoy your 20's lol

idk man

I really dont remember cell phones being that prevalent when I started. I still had an mp3 player at the time lol

Even nowadays I bring my phone but turn the wifi and data off. There to smash a workout for 60 - 90 mins and get out

my issue is fukkers aren't there to lift really, just because it's trendy, and their friends are there...
if you're huge or lifting a chit ton of weight as a brocolli hair ******* that'd be one thing, but they are a waste of space in the gym.

this makes me miss my old gym back in cincy. was old school and known as one of the top BB gym in SW Ohio.

whats weird is at that gym , for whatever reason, you were actually friends with other lifters there. like it was very common for other regulars to just come up and starting BSing with you. most of us found out when one of them would pass. etc. best gym i ever went to.

The first gym I started going to, around 22 years ago, I remember being pretty clueless about everything. A huge bodybuilder and his bodybuilder wife took me under their wing. They saw me lost and helped me. A couple of years later, I remember Edge, from WWE, coming in while they were in town. Super nice guy.
