I was close to a girl in high school that cut herself. Knowing what I do now, this is what I can tell you; her father was a little weakling, but he was very nice. I had conversations with him often. Her mother was morbidly obese and when she was home, would just lay in bed all day. Her brother was a pencil neck geek that got bullied in school and was annoying. She had an adopted brother who went to prison for drugs.

Now, the thing is, this was a middle class family. Her father had a decent job, her mother worked part time. The house was clean, organized etc.

So it's def not the absence of a father, but could be the result of a weak father figure. This was the 90s. Cutting became more common I think.

I would imagine that the propaganda and backwards policies being used on us kids back then was really f'ing us up too. We had a revolution in the 90s that few were aware of at the time. Zero tolerance, "feelings" about everything. The planet was about to end for the 10th time. Girls were being taught they were victims...

Good indication between our two posts that the identity crisis took off in the 90s. Lesbians are not near as common as gays (historically speaking), but we saw a huge jump. Likewise, we saw the first documented female transgender in 2012. Clearly a mental illness pattern.
