Why has it taken me so long to recover from DOMS this week?

Went to the gym on Tuesday and all I did was 1x5 on deadlifts and 4x10 on RDL’s (I had very limited time in the gym and all squat racks were taken)

My hamstrings are still stiff AF.

I know I’ve barely been lifting past few months but still hit legs last week aswell.

It’s frustrating because I attempted a 20 mile run today but had to give up after 2 miles as my legs felt super heavy and just didn’t have it in me. (I’m doing this as my marathon is in 2 weeks)

The thing is I know I could definitely run 20 miles as I ran 18 last week:

Proof of my 18 mile run:

Man I’m fuked off now tbh, it’s hard to balance running/marathon training with lifting and working on the railway brahs.

Can’t wait till this Marathon is over so then I can stop long distance running and focus on getting swole again.

Did you stretch before AND after?

If you didn't, that maybe why.

Yeah stretched and foam rolled before and after.

Probably just down to my messed up sleeping patterns as I did 8 night shifts in a row last week and my diet hasn’t been that great in all honesty.

Not working out legs often does that for you quick. If i take 2 weeks off legs ill cramp up after 3 sets no matter how much i stretch/warmup.
Running also fks with recovery. But man you got big as fk quads anyway fuk a leg, just grow calves.
Imo you should chill before the marathon.
Doubt you can work hard for any meaningful running gains in 2 weeks u already hitting 18 milers.

Yeah but it’s been almost a week, I usually recover within 2 days or so.

Could be your schedule; and I'm guessing you're always on your feet at work so your legs don't get a chance recover.

Because you're a copecel.

You're not supposed to stretch before you run.
When it comes your time to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with the fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song and die like a hero going home.

When was the last time you did RDL’s? If you had more than one week then that is your answer.

How many days a week do you lift? Your marathon training should be your main focus at the moment, (especially if you're 2 weeks out from your race.) My only other recommendation is to make sure you're eating enough calories to support your entire work load. Long distance marathon running is taxing and getting in enough calories is important and also helps with proper recovery.

Good luck with the race!

These days I’m lucky to lift 1-2 days a week srs, with running and working it’s been hard to get to the gym past few months.

But yeah running is main priority for now, it kinda sucks as I’ve lost some strength and size although my cardio is good.
