It's Suuuuuuunday night, wagecels! Not much longer until AI replaces you edition!

Fun fact: The median CEO who takes a 1 minute piss at a urinal, takes home 2.5x as much in that minute as a wagie makesall yearlol. MOGGED.

Hope you had a restful 48 hours, with MAXIMUM coping. Drinking, drugs, sex, sports, anything to deal with the pain of spending your life as a nameless, faceless servant of a mega corp. Finish up whatever sunday chores you still have left and get to bed early. Mr. Noseberg's vacation mansion in Vail needs a new roof and your labor is gonna pay for it. Be on your best game this week.

So anyway, how about that AI? It's only been out a few months and it's already replacing white collar jobs lol. Most miscers have email jobs that pay $10k/day, so top priority to be replaced by AI. Is that on the list of your worries tonight as you turn and turn in existential dread?

Pro tip: just think of work like a benevolent parasite that weighs on everything you do in life. It's just something that's with you 24/7, "helping" you provide for the people who matter (Mr. Shekelstein, not your family lol).

Money saving tip for the future

There's a WSJ article today titled, "The Building Boom is Prolonging Market Pain"

Basically, because Tradies are so slammed with work right now, they're keeping the markets from crashing like they should. So Tradies are actually Winning right now?!?

Tradies will be the last to be replaced by AI, too. So there will be a point in time where they are kings before robots become financially viable and AI fully takes over.

Tradie unions in my neck of the woods have just or are just finishing negotiations for new contracts. Last decade was all money being clawed back and that was the plan before the pandemic hit, now there’s too much work and not enough skilled labour so it has done a complete 360

Our ironworkers just got like 15% over 5 years or something solely in base wages, plus more subsistence/LOA plus more everything else. By the time this contract is done, a Journeyman will be making like $54/hr regular time if I recall correctly.

My job can’t even be done WFH, you need to be present where the work is happening alongside the trades

AI set to transform construction industry

Artificial intelligence has entered the construction industry, and early adopters say the efficiencies and cost-cutting measures will revolutionize the $10 trillion sector of the global economy for the better.

Supply chain and building material software company DigiBuild has been using OpenAI's ChatGPT to bolster its program for months, and is set to unveil the results at an event in Miami on Wednesday evening.

But ahead of the announcement, DigiBuild CEO Robert Salvador gave FOX Business an exclusive sneak peek of how the powerful AI tool has improved efficiency and slashed costs for the firm's clients, and he says the technology will be "market changing."

The construction industry is still dogged by the high material costs and supply chain woes brought on by the pandemic, and DigiBuild's software aims to help developers and contractors save money and improve their schedules. The help of AI has provided a remarkable boost to that end.

Eh, this is just a guy claiming a Project Management software is AI in an effort to overvalue his company. This stuff has been around forever. My friend's father owns a massive project consulting company and created a program like this about 15 years ago.

Man.. the labor pool is gonna be fuken tiny when the like 45 to 50 year Olds now retire

My generation was completely college + tech +... non-tradie

We aren't even close to a real labor shortage yet. Contrary to popular belief you aren't going to become a competent electrician in less than 5 years either.. you might be able to get by in some stuff but not legit in control. If you don't go to school, I doubt 10 years either. You may be able to install, but you won't have enough theory for design

Electrician apprenticeship is 5 years.. unsure about hvac/ plumbing. I think it's less

Wish it would hurry up. At this point a redundancy payout would be enough to push me into retirement.

Oh yeah lol

Most decently-sized construction companies these days have their own inhouse software development and proprietary programs, and yet almost nothing out there pulls everything together the way it could/should

It's just the beginning. Most scientists didn't even believe this was possible a few years ago:
