Damn, saw some Viet Nam Veterans at the donut shop this morning.

Dudes were old as hell, like in their 80s, chilling in the donut shop having coffee and donuts wearing their Viet Nam Veteran hats. Its crazy because when I was a kid it was the WW2 vets in the same spot, same age. Kind of a trip. Trippy part is there won’t be another group of them in the future.

Gulf war vets are looking old now
1990- 20 years = 1970 so the youngest are 51-53.

The green video of desert storm is my first memory (srs)
Watching that on the news with my parents

My Grandfather was in the Korean and has been dead for like 25 years and died old

My gramps died last year and he was the last surviving member of his company that fought in WWII.

Crazy that Vietnam war vets are so old, but I think part of that is because Vietnam was the first war with lots of color video. It was only 20-25 years after WWII, but the difference between shaky black and white footage of WWII and Vietnam videos set to Fortunate Son are pretty vast.

Most of those guys probably never set foot in Vietnam. Most Vietnam vets, including my father would never wear one of those "Vietnam Veteran" caps.

Kind of weird how WW2 vets got a literal hero’s welcome and viet nam vets came home to people spitting on them and celebrities like Jane Fonda leading protests against them. Sad
