Why does the GOP support child rape?

Why do they defend child marriage? They want kids marrying adults? Apparently this is a defense to statutory rape? Can any GOP explain this?



According to the Pew Research Center, child marriage is more common in the southern United States, including the states of West Virginia, Florida, Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, and North Carolina.

Just a decade ago more than a dozen states had kids able to get married to adults, including New York and California. As young as 15 in NY if memory serves me correctly. I'm pretty sure the only ones left on the books are where a 17 yr old can get married and the other spouse has to be within 2 yrs of age, or they're 16-17 and are legally emancipated from their parents.

I have no idea about one guy in one state legislature that thinks kids as young as 12 with parental permission should be able to get married. If he's not in my state, I don't care either.

Psst, you know some of the clients of Jeffery Epstein have been revealed this week, right? Per The Wall Street Journal the list includes Noam Chomsky and the current CIA director who was deputy secretary of state under Obama. Oof. Probably best not to be the one throwing stones right now, OP.

Vague associations to Epstein (who was a billionaire and involved in many projects and foundations) isn't as much of a smoking gun as a member of the GOP openly supporting child marriage breh. Also Trump was pals with Epstein too. Yikes.

Half of the marriage laws for minors are allowing them to marry other minors.

If you're 16 and get knocked up by your 17 year old boyfriend, it's absolutely appropriate that you're legally allowed to get married. You decided to start a family. Why would the govt get in the way of you trying to do the right thing?
