What was the civil war about?
Did people really fight each other to free slaves? Knowing how people are today, I don't see them fighting for anything. I don't see the same passion.

Industrial vs agriculture power. End result leading to an empire and central banking
“If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.”

Tariffs probably. The union had slave states. It would not make sense if it was about slavery because both sides had slaves. If true, the union would have banned slavery
The Emancipation Proclamation did not free slaves in the union. It only "freed" slaves that the union had no control over. It kept slaves in the union as slaves.

Literally north was mad that south was dominating in economic power despite having less population, and viewed it as unfair that south could have slaves and north couldn't (because of local government restrictions). It wasn't a moral fight regarding whether or not slavery is right or wrong - that didn't come until later when the north decided to kick sand in the south's face.

yea slavery
ppl who say it was about states' rights or economic interests often fail to mention it was specifically states' rights to slavery and the economic consequences of slavery lmao
Don't believe me? Read the articles of secession from Texas. It reads like Dogkrack wrote it.

We hold as undeniable truths that the governments of the various States, and of the confederacy itself, were established exclusively by the white race, for themselves and their posterity; that the African race had no agency in their establishment; that they were rightfully held and regarded as an inferior and dependent race, and in that condition only could their existence in this country be rendered beneficial or tolerable.
That in this free government all white men are and of right ought to be entitled to equal civil and political rights; that the servitude of the African race, as existing in these States, is mutually beneficial to both bond and free, and is abundantly authorized and justified by the experience of mankind, and the revealed will of the Almighty Creator, as recognized by all Christian nations; while the destruction of the existing relations between the two races, as advocated by our sectional enemies, would bring inevitable calamities upon both and desolation upon the fifteen slave-holding States.
You were the bad guys then. History did not remember you kindly. You are also the bad guys now. The Civil War was about "freeing slaves" as much as Iraq and Afghanistan was about "bringing democracy"......

It was pretty complicated. Had to do with attempting to avoid central bank installation but ultimately that failed 50-60 years later. It also paved the way for 14th amendment for "citizens" in which we all became subjects to a corporation vs nationals of a state.
