Did any of them stick around? I notice that some towns on the east coast are called Valhalla or some nordic names

There is the Newfoundland site, which shows evidence of ship building and repair. This siggest they were not only there, but either lived there year round and or visited, using the site as a port/settlement. The most interesting thing about that site is the discovery of a tree species that wasnt present at that latitude at the time. i believe it was butter wood? And I believe it was only present in the southeastern USA. This means they potentially discovered the entire east coast and or the natives were good at moving logs across long distances.

There was a viking women who pilgramaged to Rome around 1000AD and claimed to have lived on the other side of the Atlantic for 10 years. This could be greenland, or it could be "vineland" which is most likely Newfoundland.

They had three names for locations they landed in in NA, suggesting multiple locations of settlement. Vineland or grapeland is the most interesting and probably the Newfoundland site as thats the only place grapes could grow at the time. Other descriptions of land in NA by the vikings match local islands characteristics on Canadas east coast, but thats possibly coincidence.

Some think they sailed the ST. lawrence, into the great lakes and settled in Minnisota. Some stone with ancient viking texts was found in a field in the 60/70's, but the large population of Nordic people who coincidentally settled the area makes that a hard claim to believe.

Whats crazy is they found Greenland and within 3 years claim to have found NA. They covered a lot of ocean in a few years after leaving iceland. Makes you think they couldve seen a lot of what NA had to offer via boat.

Theories on why they left was the hostile natives fought them off (there are accounts of this from both sides) and that the little iceage formed too much sea ice and made travel too complicated. Then the plauge hit.
