Best Place to buy stuff for a Home Gym? (REPS)
Listen up ****gits. Bought a house last year and left my weight set behind. I am finally gonna set up my home gym. Have an empty room that is10' x 13'-6". Don't feel like getting a gym membership, gonna get a TV mounted and workout every day.
But where the fuk does one even buy weight sets and the like nowadays?
Went to a few stores and they said they only had the floor models to sell, without even being discounted.
And the last weight set I bought off Amazon was tiny; my shoulders were way past the edges and it felt unsafe.
What brands are good? Weider was my go to, but looking up their store directly now and the stock looks limited as fuk.
Recommendations?
Just wanna buy this sh!t online and have it shipped at this point, every store trip has been a disappointment.
What would you all put in a space that small? Trying to at least get free weights and cardio going.
For your time:

Best place to buy plates is at the metal scrap yard if you get lucky enough. I bought 1400+ pounds of plates and dumbbells for $0.40 a pound a few years ago. Cleaned them up with some vinegar and paint and they looked brand new.

I could see gyms selling older sh!t, kinda just wanna buy new though. One place, have 'em send me everything...a Power Tower, weight set, rack, dumbell set, plates, etc.
Had this old Weider Pro weight bench my friend gave to me years and years ago, was nice and bulky. Could never find anything with the quality of it again.

You can look on slapsale for auctions near you (schools/universities/hospitals, etc)
Fb marketplace and Craigslist for used stuff.
Sh*ts expensive af now for quality equipment, but buying garbage equipment is just throwing your money away.
How much do you want to spend?
I would consider just buying a quality adjustable bench for now ($800 new) and a set of dumbbells with a few different sized kettlebells and a couple platforms, since your room is so small and go from there.
10x13?
That's a prison cell, not a gym.

I also have a Rogue flat one piece welded bench that was only $200 ish (a few years back) and is well built w/ a nice pad (but obviously no adj)
I have a set of adj dumbells (powerblocks) and hate them and don't ever use them, but they are convenient for space saving...I have a full set of Troy urethanes from 5 to 50 w/ a rack that I fookin love (knurled handles), but they were also pricey.
I have a bunch of everything but the urethane dumbbells and one of the adj benches are what I would bring with me if I had to squeeze into your space, and just do goblet squats with a kettlebell.

This is what I did with a similar sized space at my old house. Squat, bench, deadlift all good to go. Bought a pair of dumbbell handles with 2" sleeves so I could load whatever I wanted with the plates I already had and didn't have to worry about dumbbell storage. Have a much bigger space now but this small space did it for several years. Titan fitness is a good budget brand that's still good enough to accommodate a serious lifter. Seems like plates are expensive everywhere. Local used sports equipment stores sometimes had good deals around me.

I bought everything new from Rogue because I hate touching stuff others have owned, but really I’m a huge ph a ggot and you could buy used, and disinfect pretty easily.
I’d say look up Craigslist, or ******** Marketplace and you’ll find good stuff. Tons of people but good equipment, lie to themselves, then never use it and sell it for cheaper than new. Only pain is taking it all apart and putting it back together.

I got most of my stuff from Rep Fitness (hehe feel free to give me one) and a couple things from Titan. Both are super solid. Rep is fairly inexpensive IMO.

Ran outta reps after the second reply but I'll get everyone on recharge.
Craigslist options are kinda steep too.

That's a pretty dope setup for the space size.

even small bases have two or three gyms.
I would suggest most people live within a distance to one that would make the drive worth it the next time you see one closest to you.
Doesn’t mean you will win the auction.
Generally the equipment is well maintained, and I am confident the winner will be getting a good deal.
This is some of the nicest equipment money can buy.
