What are some good PS1 and PS2 games?

Im looking for unique games that have great mechanics and a high attention to detail, games that were made with alot of love.. Modern game seems to be lacking this even though they look great on the surface.

I used to find good deals at garage sales and flea markets when I still lived in the US. Some guy sold me the original Metal Gear Solid case and discs near mint condition for $5.

Gentlemen, sirs, for the love of everything good, decent, and right in the world, please stop contracting the two words a and lot.

There is a lot, which refers to an amount of any certain thing, and there is allot, which refers to the giving of shares.

Also, ps2 was the greatest generation for survival horror. I suspect many of those games might not appeal to modern gamers though given the tank controls. Rule of Rose, Haunting Ground, Kuon, Silent Hill 2-4, Resident Evil, etc.

I have found a ******** page of a guy that burns replicas. That might count for a cheap alternative. If you have a ******** account, look up nightwing video game reproductions.

edit - I'm reading now that nightwing reproduction discs only work on modded ps2s. So, not exactly an ideal recommendation.
