Brahs, this is literally the only highly graphical game that hasn't stuttered once on my potato RX 570 4GB @ 1080p high settings. Just fluid 60 fps. Is this how people with good PCs feel? Every other game that is newer than 5 years stutters and FPS drops, but somehow this game is smooth as butter and looks gorgeous. Ok, I tried it on max settings, it's still smooth and is even using more VRAM than my GPU has, lol, but a bit lower FPS.

I want to know how they optimized it so well, because now I want to always play games this smoothly. 144hz probably helps, too, because when it works it works flawlessly. I also have the Game Color set to 12 on my G-Menu and everything pops out at me as though I'm in an IMAX theater. Also my GPU temps don't go higher than 67 c, despite the graphically demanding game. This is proof that GPUs aren't the problem, it's the poor optimization. Hogwarts Legacy was a mess in that regard and had worse graphics.

And agreed, optimization is something that a lot of dev's are cutting corners in on PC ... They prolly use DLSS as a crutch / excuse not to properly optimize games anymore lol.

On max settings the hi-res textures don't always load, but that issue was even worse on Hogwarts Legacy. Guess my GPU VRAM isn't good enough. Other than that it's good.I only just realized that the Horizon games were developed by the same people who made the Killzone series. That explains the fluid combat animations and in-game effects.

Dead island 2 looks and runs great, not a single bug or crash, and it was in development hell for like 10 years. Makes no sense why some games are just pure ass on launch.

PC gaming the biggest scam. I just ran Mafia definitive edition on my rtx 4080 13900k and chit was all over the place. GPU would go down to 60% usage up to 99% , with my fps going from 100 to 175hz thats my monitor cap. Even at over 100hz Still stuttered piece of chit

Definitely, if you keep visiting this section you'll see our regular crew of short-bus passengers such as Jay and his alt account "Taskmob", they seem to have emotional breakdowns whenever a sony game is mentioned. Saying that you enjoy a Sony game is akin to burning the bible/quran for Jay. He also complains about toxicity in this section when you'll regularly see him attack other members for enjoying things that doesnt line with his tastes, and when he gets called out for being a hypocrite, he goes crying about it to Main misc or putting you in his infamous ignore list. He had like 95%% of the regulars here in his ignore list.

I picked up horizon 2 when I bought my ps5, downloaded the first one on Psn as I thought I should start with that, however after about 2 hours I just noped out.

I dunno what it was about it but it just couldn't hold my attention, bored me to tears. I can't really put my finger on it, just felt really slow, the combat wasn't satisfying, it took ages to trapse around and the story was dull.

Nah he is right, Horizon just has something that doesnt hit with everyone. despite being a top tier game I couldnt bother finishing the first one and I started the second one and still only got a few hours of gameplay before abandoning ship.

I'm still trying to finish it. It looks great and the combat is fun, but all the crafting and the wooden acting bring it down. I like the story, but so many characters just feel lame or lifeless.

same, just didnt like it. i dont even mind a game where i skip cutscenes for good gameplay, but horizon just didn't do either for me

I went though the thread a while ago and have no issue with guys saying it's not for them but out of my 6 or so playthroughs I've never had to craft a single item.

Are you talking about the mechanic where you hold X for 3 seconds and you auto refill your arrows? That's not crafting my guy that's as basic as just reloading your mag in a shooter.

@lifeless characters, when it came out they had no mo cap studio so all the character interactions were done by hand. That's why it looks more lifeless than Witcher 3. Weird thing is they went full 360 and gave Forbidden West the best mo cap I have ever seen in a game.

The side quest NPCs can get pretty bad, but there are some really good character interactions too in the main quests. One of my favorite scenes was Aloy meeting Morlund's Crew before she got the diving mask.

I think they had a bunch of juniors and newb hires do the writing for side quests.

I think some of the side quests in the second game esp are pretty unique and have memorable storylines. It's just the writing of the NPC dialogs feel weak sometimes, especially when you realise they just use a bunch of female voice actors that sound like modern NY girls. It subtracts from the immersion because just as clothing and beliefs, you would expect people from different clans to also have their own unique speech/accents as well. It's funny every time I meet a black male or female and they sound like a modern day black person from Texas lol

The Horizon series is a perfect example of games that are internet popular, like you can find some odd people on forums being all enthusiastic about it, but you would be hard pressed to find anyone IRL who gives a chit or feels the same way. A lot of Sony games can be like that these days.

...and yeah, playing the original was enough to turn me off the series for good. I think I got it on sale way back when Zero Dawn was still a popular talked about game among Sonycels, and it's one of those games I always had to push myself to play, felt like a chore. It's like nothing about it really grabbed my interest.
