I'm sure the Greens and globalists are upset by this. The process that's been around over 100 years to make ammonia for fertilizer and feed the world usually uses tons of natural gas and emits a ton of carbon dioxide in the process. 7% of global industrial industrial CO2 emissions come from producing ammonia (mostly used for food fertilizer). But it appears those days may be over.

If you guys remember 2 years ago there was a fertilizer shortage. Smug environmentalists and some other psychopaths were happy about it. "People need to starve? Oh well, there's too many people on the planet anyway" was a good summary of their reaction. But you vil not eat ze bugs. You won't need to. No more wielding "but chemical fertilizer to grow food causes too many greenhouse gases" excuse. As making ammonia for fertilizer is switched over to this new process it will be the equivalent of taking hundreds of millions of cars off the road. I read about this over a week ago, so why is this not all over the news? Because it's good news. It means less control and force over the world population. Less ability to use greenhouse gas emissions as a way to threaten people with their ability to grow food.

Everything starts out that way. I wouldn't expect this to be commercialized for a very long time. We're on the cusp of not using lithium for batteries after they've been they gold standard for decades and countless billions of dollars have been invested in alternatives across the globe. Even those battery alternatives going from proof of making economic sense years ago to mass production takes a long ass time. Even after several batteries not using lithium are in phones, EVs and other products lithium will still get used in batteries for them for a long time. These things take time to get to large scale production and this ammonia alternative for fertilizer won't have Billions of dollars chasing it like batteries do.

Hell, there are feed additives that reduce how much methane cows burp (and fart) out by about half that are super cheap and have been tested globally over more than a decade. Right now being used at small scale while commercially available, and they'll get used more, but it will take years for them to get used widely. There are tons of things like this out there that gut the global warming hysteria. They don't get lots of media attention they deserve.

These kinds of developments happen all the time in fields but have zero real implications. An incredible number of things have to come together for a process to be all of possible, sustainable, and profitable to have on such an industrial scale.

But it'll still contain nitrogen so should be banned from the perspective of Big Green.
