Why did Scar want to be King of Pride Rock?

He already got to lay around and do nothing, had everything provided for him, didn’t have to hunt (the lionesses did that) and he didn’t even have to protect the pride (Mufasa did that).

When he killed Mufasa and became King, he continued to lay around and do nothing even when the weather changed and the herds moved on.

He wasn’t a mastermind, he was a fool. And he should have killed Simba himself.

The only reason he wasn't king was because they didn't want to give the throne to a lion who was Gay.

Scar's motivation driving his desires are never revealed because he is not the story's main transformative character. He is a tool for simba's heroic adventure and that's it.

A fun thing to do with kids who have never seen the Lion King is to wait until Scar tells Simba that he killed his dad and he should gtfo, and then turn the movie off while telling them that's how it ends.

I have never seen a 5 year old cry so much.
