Same. I’m gonna have to wait until I’m no longer an apartmentcel. I grew up with dogs and I miss it.

Same. I’m gonna have to wait until I’m no longer an apartmentcel. I grew up with dogs and I miss it.
Would you keep the dog outside in the yard when you're at work? (so he/she don't poop/pee in the house?)

If I had a yard? I wouldn’t.

Instead I would give them a good walk in the morning and another long one when you get home. It’s fine to let them wander the yard while you are home, I just feel like leaving them unattended is asking for trouble (escape, wild animals, digging into something they shouldn’t, etc.)

A well trained dog shouldn’t piss or chit in the house within an 8 hour time frame. You might be concerned about them tearing up the house, but again that’s a training issue and behavior can depend on breed.

An alternative would be to get them a crate. I’m not personally a fan of locking dogs in tiny cages, however by nature they won’t use the bathroom where they sleep so there won’t be problems there.
