you'll just be a bitch boy carrying tools for a long time anyway.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.

Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

It sounds good, but the 10 hr work days would be miserable as **** at the start and I'd be soo sore the next day that idk I'd be able to do the job. Hence the getting in shape/lifting beforehand.

It depends.. but most officels would Def. Die

The only guys not doing a lot have prob been in x trade for a long time

Dig ditches for 8 hours where the foreman gets on your azz for stopping in summer heat. Then get back to me

Nowadays, that doesn't even feel like that much.. it would be everything else on top of that

You are legit active and working for 8 hours most of the time. If the foreman sees you slacking off that much you'd be gone or moved. At least in the ibew anyways

Op, I say get the job cause working out is not gonna get you in the same shape. Not sure you can simulate the environment otherwise. Cardio might get you endurance

Ye. I've been inactive for a while - just recently started going to the gym(on-off for about 4 months now, gotten more serious the last month). Lost 30 lbs so far...down(or up, however you look at it) to 259 lbs. (still feel fat and like I have a lot more to lose)

I would be working 10 hrs a day as a 'framing helper' - so carrying 2x4s, nailing in nails...idk what else.

You will need to begin a regimented programme of daily cigarette smoking and monster drinking in order to condition your body for the realities of life on a building site.

Exactly. Funny thing is, that contractor just went under ~ a month ago. We were legit on site and then had to pack up our tools and everything

Cool dude, what construction job would you recommend? (framing, carpentry, painter, etc?)

I say get the job. It's gonna be tough.

I have seen not in shape guys do it though. So it can be done

Even doing cardio I don't see being able to pick up chit all day and nail nails as you said

I'm an electrician

I also passed the elevator aptitude test but skipped out on the interview..

I will interview in another city, when an opportune time comes

My ideal is elevator tbh

But as far as demand and skills I think electricians are the best

I think some trades might be easier. Idk if that's what you want

I think electrician is a little more versatile than carpentry. There's more to it with the study of electricity but you're also doing inner and outer workings, so worried about design/ finish. Whereas carpenter is just the inner workings and maybe design as a consequence.

For example, lighting a place as an electrician
You fuk up the lights, what would it look like?

In a union you have to pass a test and interview. Their selection is a little tighter process

What you say might apply to some trades but there's no way you come in green as an electrician and know what's going on 1st day. An apprenticeship is 5 years with schooling

Bunch of hard hat wearing baboons hanging off of scaffolding poles.

Why do builders have transparent lunchboxes? So they can tell if they're going to work or going home

The thing is I'm pretty mentally weak. I feel like I'd want to quit when it got hard. Hence the getting in shape to make my life easier...

The money tho.

Just know it's going to be hard.. it's weird, at my private place guys didn't really bust balls. There were some guys that were cranky, but they didn't really actively go out of their way to make the job harder

But with the union...oh my fuk did they bust balls. A weak person would Def. Quit. Idk if it's cause they felt more confident they wouldn't be fired or what

You know.. I recently saw a brand new green guy come in
I know he has 0 experience in trades (he doesn't know what he's doing) but he's looks like he was in shape.. but is kinda fat now. Anyways, he was just doing overhead and climbing up and down a ladder and he said he was "dying". I remember him like shaking at the thought of going back to overhead - i was working with him and we werent doing overhead - which isn't that hard.. but

He got through it

I've seen some very out of shape people do it but it's Def. Way different than an office job

How do you get fat being on your feet 10 hours a day, lifting chit?

I was thinking that recently. They must have the worst habits outside of work

Probably drinking and chit diet

At my site right now its like a 15 minute walk to the site. So just walking there and back at the end of the day is 30 minutes of walking. Was legit thinking, how are these guys fat doing this?

Wasn't until I felt the muscle in my hands much bigger that I figured out it was soreness
