Why didn’t Mulan just go home when she failed training?

The Captain guy says “Pack up, go home, you’re through” and basically commands Milan to leave. Why couldn’t Mulan just have gone right home?

Also wouldn’t everyone in town know that her dad was supposed to go fight? They’ll be like “yo lol ur not supposed to be here, also where is Mulan lol”

She did go home but got lost and wound up on the battlefield you know how women are with directions haha
