I don't really get it, personally.

THE BOOM OF THESE FORCES SO GREAT THAT THE REVERBERATIONS OF THEIR SOUND SET OFF SENSORS IN OUR MECHANISMS DESIGNED TO ALERT THEFT LEVEL TAMPERMENT!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

I was blown away when I learned lightning was plasma. Plasma is incredible stuff too.

Power transmission lines are somewhere between 100,000 and 800,000 volts and the only "insulation" between the lines is a few feet of air, but that's enough to keep them from arcing together. Now think about lightning arcing across thousands of feet of air.

The sun makes puddles into vapor that floats into the sky that produce rain, rainbows, and, occasionally, Gigajoule-plus bolts of fukking plasma that will kill you without warning if you’re within a few miles of them.
