Real world example :

Left handed people.

That only makes everything more of a hassle. Imagine manufacturing baseball gloves and all of a sudden you have to reverse the design entirely to manufacture for left handed people. Same deal with golf clubs. You have to completely reverse the manufacturing of the product. All diversity did in both these examples is created twice the work. Instead of 1 product to satisfy the population, you basically need 2 products. 1 plus it's mirror image.
