it's probably going to have a similar adoption growth, at a smaller scale, to the apple watch.
gen 1) nobody really buys it other than enthusiasts
gen 2) refined with more actual use, continued growth
gen 3) skyrockets in popularity as plenty of content/apps release for it. probably will have a SE model too
neato, i'd probably buy it at 1.5k, maybe 2k but at its current price i'll pass

what can u do with it ? playing vidya ? lmao
They can sell this **** to companies in sillicon valley for productive purposes, but its too pricey for laymen.
I would buy it for this price only if it can give me great sexual experiences, thats bc im a degenrate coomer.

Its was fun and exciting at 1000-1500 price point. At 3500 starting, **** that. Ill probably buy it on sale because I can afford it but its still a hard pillow to swallow. Maybe I buy it at costco for a month then return it if it fades off. If its actually good that It can improve my experience then Ill keep it.

Awesome device but they priced themselves out of the market.
Nobody is going to spend 3500 on what is basically a novel toy.
$1000? They'd sell like crazy.
$3500 is just too rich for 98%+ of the population's blood. The remaining 2% are probably not going to be that interested.

Technically, quest 2 can already do everything that was shown if you give it the apps (save for the Apple echosystem stuff like looking at your laptop), so apart from the resolution, I honestly don't see why you would get VP instead of Quest 3.

This thing is going to be a flop, but its going to push the market forward.
I like the scroll wheel that allows you to bring an adjustable AR passthrough in your periphery. Its a pretty neat feature, but not a requirement I would want. I also like the lidar sensor which allows for its great hand tracking. The 4k micro oled displays are huge, but I haven't heard any details on its FOV or what type of optics the headset is using. Finally theres the CPU. Im not an apple *** so im not sure how the CPU compares to the new qualcomm chips budget vr headsets are using.
It has some redeeming qualities, but not enough to justify its price tag, its launch date, its cons, or what the competitors could put out in a competing product. Its list of cons are just way too fkn high but im sure there are some apple ***s that will eat it up.
The most lulzy con is the front facing display. They literally put a display on the front of the headset that other people can see. Huge waste of resources in terms of cost, weight, processing power, and battery life. Not only that, but that design "feature" drove them to put glass on the front of the headset lmfao. The glass and metal in the headset further adds to the weight. Next up is the battery. Its not integrated and has a two hour life. It doesnt connect to the back of the headstrap either to balance out the absurd weight. Basically going backwards in design. Competing headsets probably have batteries 1/2 the size that last 3+ hours. The headstrap also looks like it doesnt have a top loop which is another design flaw. Finally we get to ecosystem and just wtf exactly is this headset supposed to be for? Is it a media device? Why this over the bigscreen beyond headset thats 8x lighter and over 3x cheaper and more comfortable? Is it for working? Why this over a fully built out workstation? I could see a quest 2 competing with a chromebook by allowing multi displays over a single display at similar cost, but the price tag on this gets absolutely dumped on vs a $5k workstation with all peripherals like multi monitor etc included. I guess you could use it from your bed or while in the car or airplane, but thats it. Maybe if I had a $10m+ net worth and was an apple ***. Also there aren't any real application on this thing and they are counting on developers to make products for who exactly? Who is the customer here? Im not buying it because I would need a second device just to play a couple minutes on beatsaber per day. Being able to connect to your mac is cool, but it seems like the developer share for the XR industry is going to focus on the android OS that all the other headsets run on and where the market really is. Other devices are just going to steal concepts from this headset, sell for cheaper, and release better products with increasingly better software.
Good for the VR arms race, but apple probably isn't going to come out on top but the consumer and other companies will.

Apples app store is already predatory enough as it is, and the VR market isn't nearly as large as mobile. If you want to make money in VR you either get a fat azz grant from apple or you develop for android so you can be on 95% of devices. The other thing too is that the other competitors have been going for younger crowds who likely arent in the apple ecosystem. A young adult just starting to make money isn't going to scrap their gaming rig just to get into the apple ecosystem with proprietary cables and micro transactions that doesnt even really have vidya support. I hope to God the apple supremacy era is coming to an end, and this headset will be looked back at as the moment of their hubris.Being apple, maybe the AR/VR will start to be come more mainstream.
