I don't think we've even yet seen impacts from all the big wage negotiations that have been happening / still are happening

Before COVID, in my industry the plan was to claw back more money from people and now every union is signing contracts for like 15%+ of base wage increases over the next handful of years

If they can't make the mortgage payment how are they going to make the even more expensive rental payment?

Interest rates may have gone up by .25%

But rents have gone up 60%

I know which boat I’d rather be in

Spoiler!
lol if you don’t own your home outright lmao

Rent from a bank you’re still a renter

Canadians refinance every 5 years. In the USA most locked in at godly low rates. Anyone who bought at peak market in 2020 is in for a blood bath in 2025 (or sooner if they went variable.

We haven't seen the effect of raises on inflation yet so expect increased rate hikes for about another year or two and people refinancing at 5% higher, srs. Great time to be a renter and kick back and watch the blood bath.

Anyone who is renting in BC now will always be a renter unless your parents are gifting you the money. The housing will never crash to affordable levels so if you're renting with that in mind good luck boyos.
