Was living paycheck to paycheck till like 25, got into IT and was making $60k/year starting out and most recently $115k/year. Didn’t have to worry about money at all. Bought whatever I want, ate out all the time, etc.

Then 4.5 months ago I got laid off. Told myself I was going to take a 2 month break and just live off savings + unemployment. Then I started to look for a new job and realized how bad the market actually is.

Now I’m running out of unemployment (1 month left) and savings isn’t look good either. This big gap has really hurt me when interviewing too.

Now I’m trying to save $$ (something I didn’t actually do before because I thought I’d be back working in no time).

Yesterday got a flat tire that needs replaced according to the dealership which is going to cost like $200 at least.

A year ago I would’ve just shrugged it off but now today it reminds me how it feels being poor again.

The job market SUCKS. I just went full on NEET. Not even bothering. Being broke does suck but tbh I think i'd rather rope than do wage slavery again.

I feel grateful everyday for what I have, as I know it can be taken away at a moments notice. I could easily wake up jobless tomorrow.


I have just been really fortunate.

I can't say I know those feels man, but I imagine they are chitty. I have spent a lot of my life doing things to specifically avoid that situation. I imagine there is a lot of room there for development. It seems like you are going to have to work on some problem solving skills. That sounds like a great opportunity.

Yeah this is a first for me. I’ve had a job since like 16. When I initially got laid off, people tried to help me but I brushed them off cause I wanted to “take a break”. Very dumb mistake. Then I got a few companies interested in me and wanted to make an offer but declined because I was waiting for something better.

I’ve just been getting IT certs. Have gotten 3 so far and about to get my 4th. This will prob be the last one though as I don’t really need that many. Prob pick up a programming language so I can put that on my resume as well.

Just get a bummy tradie job or something part time for some pocket money
