Though the real answer is in Thomas Sowell “Ethnic America”


Most southern states are populated by Scott’s-Irish peoples. They have a greater emphasis on practical skills from their heritage as herders.

Most northern and some midwestern states are populated by Germanic peoples who places a greater emphasis on being “learned” as they were more focused on agriculture.

Well for starters, the population centers like Baton Rouge and New Orleans have Democrat mayors and Democrat controlled school boards. We also happen to have a Democrat governor but he's from north Tangipahoa Parish where I live, so he's not that bad.

Once you get out of EBR and get into Ascension Parish, Livingston Parish, Tangipahoa Parish, among others, the schools are immensely better. Middle and Upper class areas of Baton Rouge like Zachary and St George are breaking away from the city and creating their own school boards because all the Dems in the city want to do is tax them and then fail inner city kids and families.

The ranking, announced this week, was largely based on Florida’s public higher education system, which scored above other states on metrics including graduation rates, cost of degrees and student debt. The state’s pre-K-12 system ranked No. 14, based on high school graduation rates, preschool enrollment rates and results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress, among other measurements.

The report stated that the average Floridian graduated from college with around $5,000 less in student debt and the high school graduation rate was about 4 percentage points higher than the national average.....

Massachusetts has had a republican governor for 26 out of the last 32 years - and they are miles better than Louisiana that's had a Democrat governor since 2016.
