Its more popular in the south for sure, but its like lower sections of hog. Poor people are able to obtain it free or cheaply so they found how to make it taste good over the generations.

They taste good and a backyard boil is a fun thing to do, but a lot of it is hype. The fact that you can only get them a few months of the year just drives it even more, like with the McRib.

Shrimp usually comes with head cut off so it's not groce at all for me. Hate when they come with a head tho.

Itโ€™s just a baby roach version of the king roach, the lobster.

All of that chit is gross. These animals are bottom feeders, just like a roach.

A backyard boil is just something fun to do. Drink beer and eat with your hands lol.

Last year I ordered 80 pounds of live ones and we also did corn, potatoes, and sausage. They day after we always make crawfish mac n cheese with andouille sausage. What was left got shelled and frozen. I think we ended up with three pounds of tail meat.

^Did a boil a little more than double that a couple of weeks ago (~170lbs)...Cooking them is just as enjoyable as eating them imo. Chilling with the lads, drinking some beers, tossing some washers and cornhole. Good times

We had roughly the same left over and the wife made an etouffee hnnnngggg

Been eating them my whole life but I remember at one time cmt made it cool to be like a recheck so everyone that is on that fence started acting like that. They are overrated imo and actually live in sewage sand give me the craps. If you add that much seasoning to anything and boil it it will taste good

They taste fkn delicious if purged and cooked correctly. But I quit going to eat them once the prices got above $5-6/lb. You gotta buy like 7-8# to get a full meal, and for that price I'd rather have steak.

I'll still throw in and chow down when friends or family do a boil though. Whole mushrooms cooked in with them are fookin amazing.
