Theoretically. But most tradies drink and eat like chit and sit in the corner on their lunch box for 6 hours of their 8 hour shift.

Cortisol is one hell of a hormone that can keep people fat. Also construction is super difficult if depleted from a calorie deficiency. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

If you stick to a solid diet yes. But you will have less energy for your workouts at night. At least until you get use to the labor.

Its been 15+yrs since I have worked out in the field but I obtained my Journeyman Plumbing license in the state of Tx @ 23yo and still keep it current as a "Plan B". I went back to college and got my Degree in Mechanical Engineering and of course work on the design side of the business however....

As far as it getting you in shape... Short term with proper nutrition which isnt easy to maintain when working out in the field... sure. But it will be more of a lower bodyfat / lean "in shape" rather actually increasing LBM. You may also make some decent gains in overall strength pending what type of work you do..

However...

The reality of the situation is most of those who work in construction do not maintain the proper nutrition throughout the day and either way over compensate by eating garbage or just not eating enough and being calorie deficient (which I think I saw someone mention already). Temporarily you may lose some body fat and think its doing something but it wont be headed in a good direction.

And this isnt really even taking into consideration what it does to your body long term. I cant tell you how many guys I worked with as an apprentice who had been working out in the field for 20-30 years and couldnt stand up straight , couldnt get up off of the floor without sounding like they were in pain , every fkng joint in their body would pop / crack as they walked... which also looked painful.

Yeah dog thats gonna be a no from me... I like the fact that its there if I need it but I realized real fkn quick it was just a stepping stone.

IMO no.

The reasons are because:

You can't outwork a bad diet.
Over time, your body will get used to the same work regimen.
The work will no longer challenge or be strenuous enough.
You'll need to do more reps.
