Working out is some boring shyt

Doing the same movements over and over and over with no purpose other than trying to change your looks...simple simon stuff.

Changing diet and eating crap/amounts you wouldn't normally eat in pursuit of validation.

Worrying about work out attire because you want to be noticed.

the only way "working out" makes sense for non pro athlete adults is if it involves doing something you enjoy/have to do...for example, a hike viewing scenery, shooting basketball, going for a swim, a walk around the neighborhood, mowing the lawn, washing the car, working in the yard, playing with the kids, etc.

"I gotta go to the gym" -- just a cringe thing to hear people say.

You mean things you are basically forced to do as a human? Take a shower, take a dump, eat food...

That just begs the question -- why would any sane person want to turn their free time into something is is basically "95% of the crap you do everyday is repetitive"

Yea if you talk to a lot of older guys, the gym was basically a club for gays srs. Men used to just chain smoke cigarettes and drink whisky while working on their cars, chopping wood etc

Its not the movement thats fun. itsthe amount of intensity you can bring into every workout and really push yourself. Same thing with running. Every time i run i feel myself becoming better at pushing myself

when i was younger i never heard old people taking about a gym...no mention of ever going. maybe that was something for prissy gay men as you allude to. i remember a man about 80 that lived behind my great grandmother...he did have like 3 or 4 dumbbells and stayed in pretty good shape until about 90. he might have also mentioned something about push-ups to me.

I don't know, sometimes doing different movements and exercise or even changing a movement in the exercise can be fun. I mean, it like swimming, would you be bored as heck if you ran laps over and over again just to squirt your jimmies. Even peeing is boring, but we have to do it!
I am here, I came back, I just want to get shredded to look good for my family. Amiright?

It's for your health. Cardio is most vital to staying healthy, but with lifting too? You're just gonna feel better, overall, physically and mentally.

Fun to break past barriers and improve lifts, too.

Yea when you step away from the lifestyle, you realize how autistic the lifting lifestyle/culture is. Then a couple years go by and you end up feeling the health/energy consequences. GOAT lifestyle requires some exercise. I'm working on becoming one of those people who do high intensity workouts and are in and out of the gym within ~30-45mins 4-5 days a week.

Autismo gymmaxxing is the most brain draining form of exercise. No one likes lifting, especially after you've done it 10+ years. Everyone is paying $200/month to ride a stationary bike, shadow box against no one, do ****gy time kipping pull ups, play sports, or literally anything more entertaining than free weights.

if you market something like crossfit to middle class whites and make it seem chic/cool you will make a killing...the crowd that's into off road type vehicles like 4runners, yeti coolers, tattoo sleeves, beard grooming...crap like that.

and i do casually work out...but i'm thinking if you aren't obese, you can run, move day to day without pain and do something like 10+ strict form pull-ups/30+ push-ups...you good to go. no point in getting all autist about it

Pretty accurate OPie.

I’m wanting to get back into lifting for my health and stuff, but I know if I don’t find a way to make it more fun I’ll probably just drop it.

My only idea thus far is to find a gym partner.
