might not be recognised man, that's the big thing. a lot of recruiters / hr will look for the named certs - sec+, cysa, cissp etc. do your research before you spend money on a potential deadend

Obviously women just eye ****ed me all day. Pretty standard stuff for any gym rat in an environment where it isn’t weird to show off being a gym rat and most people there have never seen a gym…..

Some drunk dude started yelling at my buddy. He was pissed. At least 6 feet. You could feel with his body language he was legit mad. He started yelling at my friend hard af.

It took me a second to realize he wouldn’t even look at me going off on this rant. Once I saw the weakness, I slowly walked up to him, put my open palm in front of his face, inches away, and closed my fingers as a type of command for him to shut his mouth.

He literally did not even acknowledge me.

His wife/gf looked at me and started begging me to just leave it.

Even though I was all up in space he was not engaging me, only my friend.

He was not a threat at all.

This same thing happens to much smaller degree two or three more times. People just getting passive aggressively mad, but letting us through.

As people do be, most were cool.

So when we got to the front we made some friends and they were saying how they pretty much had to fight their way up there. I didn’t even think about that one guy because most people were cool about it, and I told him I didn’t have that hard of a time.

Getting a few certs won’t get you hired anymore

I’m not in the field, but it’s a strong one to get into. Try to figure out if people who got the cert are getting jobs or if they usually have to go on to further education. Or look at jobs you want and look at the education history of people on LinkedIn that are in that role

Build yourself a game plan to get the job you want

Only Certs I've seen mean anything for entry level is Comptia A+, Network+, and Security+. Anything else is only pursued if the job requires it for a promotion. But from my last job searches, they all wanted a base Bach Degree with the certs. Just having the certs yielded me little to no attention.

How long is the program for the cert and what is your current knowledge/skill level? You’d probably be better off getting a two year degree in technology and focus as many classes as possible on security. Then along the way get your A+, Net+, and Sec+. That way when you finish school you’d have all of those. There is a huge demand for security people with a decent skill level and some of the people we interview are pretty potato so as long as you are smart, personable, and care about the field you should be able to get in somewhere.

Do you know if you'll like the tech field yet? If you want to, there's a certificate from Google called IT support professional, it's basically an intro to hardware, software, networking and cyber security. If you like it then you'll have learned the basics and you can decide if you want to go get real certs that can employ you. Then maybe move on to a degree after

My girlfriend works cyber security sales. She has a masters in communication. She researched certificates and went that route and then got onto a startup. Now she's VP of sales for a global company.... But yes a good career to get into. The people she hires make 300k base salary plus accumulating incentives, plus company stock. You can make 7 figures a year selling cyber security for the right companies. Start ups can be hit of miss. But if they establish, you can make a fuk ton of money in company stock.

The next tech boom right now is AI and there are a lot of startups. Kind of scary, but also gonna be a gold mine
