Nike backing gun toting thug
https://nesn.com/2023/06/grizzlies-j...earm-incident/
Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant once again made himself the face of controversey by brandishing a firearm on social media, but Nike isn’t too overly concerned by his repeat offense.
The NBA suspended Morant for eight games during his first gun-flashing situation, while at a nightclub, last season.
Morant is held to a higher standard, but then again, that’s what comes with a $194 million contract with the Grizzlies and mutli-million endorsement deal with Nike. Consideing Morant and Nike have already launched the 23-year-old’s debut signature sneaker last season, the Nike Ja 1, with plenty of more colorways still yet to release.
Imagine being worth probably $300 million yet you're going to clubs and brandishing guns. Imagine Nike and their political stances still backing this thug. Reason 5,044rd that our society is ****ed beyond repair.

I thought the NBA would suspend Ja for more games to set an example, esp since it was a repeat incident.
controversy sells brah. if anything nike would lose money if they dropped Ja because of that badboy image he projects on to kids who will buy his shoes.

I heard they delayed his next shoe or something and pulled all mentions of him from the Nike website.
I don’t really care tho.

Guns are mainstream now, this isn't the Tipper Gore era.
Unless he violated the terms of his Nike deal/contract what is the problem?

Brandishing a firearm, waving it around while you and your boy all wear gang affiliated colors is different than shooting your gun at a firing range. In his other offense, he was brandishing it again around a crowded club that serves alcohol. That is illegal in many states. It's very likely he was drinking as well, which is a major offense.
If dude was sitting there with his posse at a firing range shooting at targets, then it's a non story, but of course that's not what was happening.
Disingenuous miscers copping out crying it's about race. Nah son, it's about behavior.

We better check his Nike Behavior clause for violations for a 110 dollar shoe.

He’s already missing enough games to count him out of regular season accolades which equal money

Who cares? He did nothing wrong, besides act like a fool. The NBA just has a strict perception clause in contracts for marketability towards kids. Nike doesn't care either, they're making hundreds of millions with the guy's shoes. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Funny seeing a couple of the usual idiots crying about gun control in here saying it's no big deal. As usual those kinds of people only have double standards.

$7.6 million
For his 25 game suspension without pay, Ja Morant will lose over 7 million dollars... $7.6 million, to be precise...
The first time he showed his gun in the Instagram video, the economic sanction wasn't that severe,
with Memphis' guard losing $668,659, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

I'm very pro 2A, but this guy is just a straight up thug. His time is coming and I can't wait. He hangs around a lot of gang bangers from his past.

I am a gun toter but not a thug.
OP, are you saying that all people who carry are thugs? My 2nd amendment right gives me the freedom to do so.
While he was only doing the same thing, the difference between he and I is 1) he is a superstar with a big following that has people look up to him. 2) he is owned by the NBA and he can't be going around acting wreckless.
3) What would have been better is him showing safe handling firearm practices. He could be an advocate for gun safety and what not to to do. He could go live and show him receiving in class training as well as range training. Partner with some guntubers, maybe Colion Noir and do tactical training. That would be a good thing to show all of the people that admire/look up to him.
