Rents up 100% from the covid trough, 50% up from 2019. Insanity. 4k a month for a west village 1 bed, 5 story walk up alley facing
Anyone I know who has a decent place lives in LIC or JC. Chit. Even if the culture moves to bed stuy etc the subways can’t. It’s over

Don't use clown world speak.
You could feel that way without it being that way. Do you want to discuss your feelings or reality.

When you make 300k, you should be able to handle a pretty decent sized rent payment. Right?

There's still a bunch of cheap areas in NYC that are semi-decent. The issue is that theres 0 access if you dont have a car.

No fkin way you can’t live great on $300k as a single person in NYC. Even if your rent is $4k a month $300k is still a ton of $$

If you make less than 500k in the city you may as well quit your job and go on govt assistance because the quality of life will be roughly equal (ded fkn Srs)

If you really dont want to spend 4k on rent for a tiny apartment, go live in Jersey and take the PATH train to work. I rather live in jersey, than in some hood in queens. It's been a while since I lived in NYC, but I also think you dont pay NYC taxes if you reside in jersey, but I could be wrong. (Super Ded fkn Srs)

Op what is your base?
You gotta settle in a studio in East village or flat iron around $3600
Id rather stay in Manhattan because you can Citibike your way everywhere. Although you can citibike your way from LIC or Brooklyn, it’s harder without the e-bike and those are always taken

When you are time poor, cooking at home is one of the first things that go (if not skipping meals altogether)
Perhaps if not the first thing, the second thing after doing your own laundry and ironing
Then you hire a cleaning service
Etc etc
