The last I heard a couple of years ago he's cooped up in his house in Hollywood, has dementia and is being abused by his caretakers...kinda sad.

Turns out he didn’t become a tranny. For the last 10 years he’s been a recluse, but I read that just before he died he was planning to return to the public eye srs. His family just shared this recent photo of him:
