Should I go nightshift for 3$ more an hour?

The company I work for is trying to get bigger and we are on the manufacturing side. They are wanting to start an evening shift but no one really wants to go. The boss offered me a 3$/hr raise and team leader for the position but I still think that is pretty weak. But I doubt he will go higher cuz i already said no to 1.50 but they are in desperate need of wanting people who know the technology/systems to work nights. But the hours are brutal. mon-fri, 4:00pm-12:30am.

If you're getting a promotion I'd say stick with it for a few months as that's all you really need in your resume to get a team leader job on a different shift at a different company. Gotta break eggs to make an omelette, etc.

That's of course if you want to be a team leader. I'd do it for the resume experience, personally

Why not you’re not doing **** else anyways. I’m assuming you already have no life. The fact your contemplating an extra $3 tells me you’re already not making much, so that’ll be a good % raise

Yeah I probably wouldn't do that for an extra $3/hour. It doesn't really amount to much on a weekly paycheck, not worth it, etc.

Hell NO. It would be a mistake. Your personal life will be ruined in ways you cant understand yet. I have a month left of 3x12s 7p-7a, then Im done after 3 years of this chit. Worse thing i ever did to my personal life. SRS.

Edit: lmao, 4p-12a? That isnt even night shift, more like evening shift. I did 3-11 for a couple years and it was awesome.

brutal truth. 3/hr extra on a wagie 40hr/week job is bout 350$ extra/mth (after tax) so kinda worth it. plus it puts me in a semi manager position since i would be team lead... but would have to learn how to suck up big time to higher ups since i gotta deal with em more and i just hate most people in general.

If you're young and the overtime pay is decent, take it and run with it for a year or two, then get out.

I expected worse hours, it's not bad but what time will you be actually home after your shift?
Also, are you ok making different friends ? because you will not see your regular buddies with those hours
Are you a night person?
you said you hate people , so does this night shift mean you have to deal with less people?

How old are you? In my 20s, that schedule would be ideal but now , no way in hell. I'm a morning guy

Working that shift sucks.

Think about it.

You get home at 1am. Stay up for a few hours and go to bed like 7 am lets say.

Ideally if you slept all day and woke up at 3pm it would work. That never happens. What does happen is you get up like 10am and sit around all day thinking about work and basically just waiting to go in.

So its like being at work without getting paid for it.

if you can sleep all day and have no life and dont want one, go for it but the reality is it really sucks.

This.

Night shift sucks ass but can allow for other benefits. Going to school for instance, way easier if you work nights being there's more day classes.

Night shift ain't that bad if you got a steady woman and life sort of organized. Way easier to save money, and chit like groceries, doctor appts, going to the DMV is way way easier being you have the whole day time for all that.

LMAO. Getting up at 10 am is the fukking way you want to go. Why in the fuk would you want to stay awake for 6 hours after work when there is absolutely nothing to do and NOTHING is open LMAO.
