Elder Scrolls 6 still 5+ years away

https://archive.is/Pvay8

Well, guess I don’t need an Xbox anytime soon then.

Elder Scrolls is the ASOIAF of video games.

Much like GTA, I don't even want it at this point.

There's nothing special about these games that requires well over a decade of development. Especially when they have infinite money and could release a new GTA/Elder Scrolls every 4-5 years if they wanted.

So, odds are that I'll probably be dead before TES IV. Thanks Starfield.

Bethesda should've just hired the Skywind and Skyblivion modders to have official Morrowind and Oblivion remakes assomething. Because no, their retarded fishing edition does not bloody count as remotely good enough when they literally fixed nothing and just repackaged a bunch of lazy creation club content because who the hell would otherwise actually pay for that low effort schit?

Saw this.

So 2011 -> 2028+ for a sequel. Totally skipping Series X / PS5 gen. But I'm sure it'll still have Series X / PS5 gen graphics nonetheless, despite being on a Series 2 / PS6 console. That's usually how it goes.

Here's a quote from 2022:
The company (Bethesda) has mentioned that Starfield, and eventually The Elder Scrolls VI are being developed on Creation Engine 2
So if that's valid, expect the same engine as Starfield, but on next gen consoles.

Way more interested in what Arkane and iD are doing, though Starfield does look amazing.
Seeing the work and polish they've put into Starfield they're not rushing games out the door.

Not sure what Bethesda's angle is. Last four games have been so different from each other.
They do have great franchises if they stop ****ing them up.

What's the point in releasing a sequel almost 20 years later?

"Oh, good news! You'll finally be able to play Skywind and Skyblivion way before TESVI!
The bad news it that's it's also several years away!"

I'd imagine that a team givenpropersupport and authority to carry through with an official remake project would be a hell of a lot faster considering that the games already exist, so the blueprints are there unlike a completely new project.

For as large as Bethesda is, and now even larger by virtue of Microsoft, it honestly feels like they don't delegate their IPs very well if theyinsiston keeping everything locked up to the main Bethesda studio. The only exceptions are New Vegas with Obsidian and Fallout 76, but they could at leasttryfor the former but with TES.

Then there's that TES MMO, which despite being (1) a different studio and (2) a totally different engine could at least be used as an additional blueprint. Hell, I wonder if it would be possible to makethatengine play like an action game instead of some schite MMO because a TESouls game would be way better than zero TES at all.

I'm going to be real here, I just don't seewhatis taking so damn long for the vast majority of these games.

The graphical leaps don't feelthatdrastic, certainly not when they actually have such advanced tools that the "extra" work would certainly be alleviated greatly, and definitely not when they now have the freedom to work on relatively new hardware over trying to perform miracles on the PS4 and Xbone's extremely outdated specs.

On the performance side of the scale it's a joke when games are basically being released in alphas and betas only to be continually developed despite being on store shelves just so they run marginally better - assuming the developers don't just abandon it midwaypastrelease (which seems like some sort of contradiction in and of itself).

The two come together with things like ray tracing which are supposed to alleviate the need to manually fake lighting, exceptit's still impractical due to how technically demanding it is on even the latest hardware for differences that 95% of people would hardly notice over well done fake lighting, so the games still wind up running less well, which sort of defeats the point of "realistic" lighting/shadows.

Only the Japanese companies seem to be relatively on track in terms of production, and even they are a bit slower, but not nearly as much as the West.
