Is Park Ranger the most beta job of all time?
I'm watching North Woods Law.
They literally sorted through trash at a campsite to figure out who left it. They found a piece of mail and drove all the way to that persons address to cite them for littering. They weren't home, so now they are staking out of the house... for littering.
Earlier in the day, they cited someone for "shooting from inside a vehicle" for loading their shotgun with one foot on their vehicle.
Just lmao

Small park yes.
But a giant forest with bears, mountain lions, elk, moose would be alpha.
Cruising around on trails on quads, riding around on horses, chilli’n in a huge tower looking for forest fires.
Seems like a pretty awesome job.

Pretty alpha actually. The only guy I know irl who became a park ranger is an ex-Marine who did 25 years in the service, special ops. When he retired around 45 years old, he came home to settle outside of a major national forest and became the park ranger. The man is an absolute unit too.

I think it would be a pretty sweet gig, unfortunately the pay is absolute chit.
I hate park rangers myself because they get a sense of ownership over the park over time and eventually they try to make it unenjoyable for people to come there.
I got a trespassing ticket while my gym was closed during covid for running on the road of a closed park, I was certainly in the wrong but you have to be a complete jackass to write someone a ticket for that.

My uncle is a park ranger in Arizona. He gets to walk around all day shooting rattlesnakes and finding peoples’ lost phones/wallets/other electronics. Government benefits are decent for an easy job, as you’d know fed

They dont exist.
Think about it, have you ever seen one outside of a national park?
You would think you would at least know someone who knows one or saw one at walmart or something.

"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

I’d say leaving a pile of trash in nature is more beta, or watching a TV show about it.

Park ranger seems like a chill job. You just kick back in nature, no 9 to 5 grind. During the pandemic was probably GOAT.

That's a TV show and it's so scripted. In reality, looks like a GAOT easy job. Buddy of mine was a cop and he quit and used hat to land a ranger job and he said it's 100X better than being a cop. Even if he does have to confront someone doing something illegal 99% of them are so much easier going than out on the streets.

Was at Sequoia National Park a few years ago.... Park ranger carrying 2 handguns. Never seen a cop carrying 2 before just walking around
I would mess with a regular cop before I messed with a park ranger. you are in the middle of nowhere, phone doesn't work, etc.
i have the feeling people go into that profession because they basically can do whatever they want

Job is probably chill asf and I'd be interested in the job if the pay wasn't absolute dogwater.

Imagine making 37k in California. You have to live in the forest.

What do you mean park ranger ? The bull**** part time thing ? Or do you mean game wardens/conservation officers that work for the DNR ?
The former is a unarmed college kids job and the latter is one of the most competitive jobs imaginable
Game wardens or conservation officers are bad ass dude , they’re like SF for LE
Your job literally is to cite armed drunk rednecks or bust drug cultivators 90% of the time all by yourself with back up hours away
There was a guy who was a former CA conservation officer who was assigned to a federal task force to bust Mexican cartels hiding out in the LA national forest on Joe rogans podcast
Pretty cool stuff
That was one of my dream careers when I was a kid after someone came to my school in MT and talked about how wolves are almost extinct
I wanted to grow up and nail those poachers to the wall DFS leave those majestic animals alone you scum

Even though they were almost all mormons they were super respectful about me not being a religious man as well. This must be a recent thing then. My mother's assistant said the same exact thing as me when she went in 2021. I wonder if covid just wrecked them because I'd say 75% of my interactions with Utah people were negative and awkward. Beautiful state, but zero customer service or even general niceness.
One dude who is a family friend of the miscer in question literally let us stay at his house one night, his wife fed us well and he took us on a shooting trip in the desert firing like 20-30 different badass guns and rifles. Went rock climbing with the miscer's son and they supplied all equipment for me and helped me out. Overall a 10/10 experience.
