CICO will work for everyone as far as weight goes but that's not the relevant issue. The relevant issue is how much weight is lost from muscle vs fat.
We cool mane, we just disagree on this. My GF says the same thing, that calories aren't everything, I acc hear a few people proclaim this but I cant get behind it.

I bulked to 220lbs (at 5'11) few years ago and was eating 4500+ cals a day. Then I lost 40lbs in a calorie deficit, maintained a great deal of strength gains, lost considerable bodyfat etc....and this is coming from someone with poverty-mediocre BBC genetics. Diet is king,

I just make sure to hit my protein requirement and hit w/e cals I feel is right.

In regards to losing fat, I think the best thing to preserve as much muscle is to maintian your lifts to the best of your ability (obviously easier said than done), but thats priority. You can reduce the volume slightly but keep that weight. And just be patient,

Losing weight is CICO. Losing Bodyfat is not.
