Just why are people leaving

New York and California? It's a mystery

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...ue-plunge.html
America's richest states are bleeding cash as New York and California see tax revenues plunge by 20% after exodus - while Texas and Florida are booming amid population influx
California, New York and 15 other states saw tax revenue drop this fiscal year
Declines are sharpest in states that rely on income taxes from the wealthy
Texas and Florida, which rely mostly on sales taxes, saw gains in state revenue

All the taxpayers are leaving in droves while these states double down bigly on empowering people who don't pay any taxes and live off social programs.

In california cities even if you make 200k a year and have a wife that makes 100k, you still can't buy a house. It's ridiculous.

The only people I know that are buying now have family members that died and they inherited $ or their dead relatives left them a home. Otherwise you have to buy in compton or somewhere where the commute is 5+ hours roundtrip

That's definitely how it is these days. Boomers were the last generation that could really purchase property with ease, and Gen X the last that could really purchase it period. Millennials got screwed by the 08 financial crisis and today's economy, and zoomers are even more screwed.

So you can't afford to live in the most desirable parts of the country?

Move to the midwest and learn how to weld, you can buy all the property you want.

Unfortunately this is bad news. The people leaving are more than likely fleeing the poor policies they voted for only to move to a more conservative state to vote for the same lib policies they are fleeing from.

I know this is trolling/cognitive dissonance/diversion but the democrats abandonment of the middle class is a big issue for them and the country.

Budget surpluses in CA in 2020-22 were from federal Covid money. The truth is California has been getting about $3 for every $2 it sends to DC for several years, making it a massive welfare dependent state.

That silly chart Ectocanuck posts once in awhile about blue v red states with data that's a dozen or more years old is laughably wrong.

When over two-thirds of the households leaving the state make over $200k you're in trouble. California's population went down by 600,000 in two years and it would be far worse if they didn't have lots of illegals flooding in.

I like to think of them like a plague of locusts.

I don't understand how property values stay high in SF when 15% of the population has left in just a few years. NYC commercial property stays high even though empty buildings are super common now.

they claim it's the weather in NY.
not a single thing to do with the high taxes and the moronic pushes for green technology that is essentially a tax because you will not have a choice in having to use more costly forms of energy.

It’s ridiculous how the Democrats have destroyed two of the greatest states and cities in this country. New York and California are symbols of the American empire, of our excellence. They are worth saving, yet these Soros politicians would rather run them into the ground and the people would rather run away like pussies instead of fighting to save them.

The taxes really aren't that bad. State income tax isn't that bad and property income taxes are half of that in texas AND there is a cap on how much it can go up each year. The major issue I see in california is the affordability. Most people aren't CEO100K/day and can't afford housing let alone renting. Gas & electric are also insanely expensive here. It's more COL and maybe some right wingers that want to leave a blue state that will never turn red.

Simple. People are tired of the woke and false-hope, racism lies bullshiit the dems and progressives try to shove down our throats.
