Alistair Overeem officially retires.

Overeem, 43, made the announcement casually during a June 1 appearance on “Lovin *****” that focused on his health. The interview resurfaced Tuesday (h/t Middle Easy).

“I actually just decided to stop fighting,” Overeem said.“This is not my thing anymore. It’s been 25 years, right? We’re going to do other cool stuff now.”

Him doing "the reem" docuseries while on his k1 grand prix run into strikeforce into ufc vs lesnar was one of my favorite times in the sports history.

Impossible without "horse meat" of course, but very entertaining.

Probably the best self promotion a fighter has ever done. The quality of that docu series was insane.

I’m fine with Brock losing to him. Overeem didn’t really talk **** about Brock or insult him. Overeem had no personal issues with Lesnar or vice versa

With Bigfoot different story. Overeem talked **** about bigfoot. Even went overboard and became a bully. He got what he deserved that night. Not exactly like Joanna vs. Thug Rose justice but I love a good story where a cocky pos gets what is coming to them.

Reem needed to be humbled he made it personal. With Brock it was all business. And yes I give him props he took care of business that night.
