Yes. Building and securing a civilization to protect your and everyone else's family, friends, and the legacy of the species. Duty and honor matter more than hedonism. Humanity has a mission. We need to honor and fulfill that mission together. There has to be a future. All of this has to be worth something, and we have come too far to throw it away.

Not sure that 'Jesus' is necessary, as I said above. If you mean 'believing in a higher power' - I'm also not convinced that this is necessary. On 'not giving a fu*k' - indeed, but that's still not more important than friends and family.

A better conception of 'happiness' goes all the way back to the Nicomachean Ethics.

I was always more of a contextualist in any case. I highly doubt that a divinity puts primacy on whether I acknowledge/worship it over the way I live my life, including my relationship with others (which already features in what you quoted).

Serving others stems from the concept of one's self as another - empathy. Serving God? See above. It's a characteristically human ego-driven purpose, which I could not believe a divinity to hold dear, flawed as we are. And the use of our intellects is as close to the divine as we can get, in any case.

Wrong. History has shown that humanity has built larger and more complex structures and models of cooperation as population scales. It will continue to do so with growing pains. Slowly, but surely, the entire species will advance together. We will share and exchange technology and our understanding of science. We will share and exchange ideas of government and law. Eventually, there will be convergence. Modern technology has effectively made the planet much smaller. Global cooperation will be necessary to handle global challenges. We are just at the start of this process. Think of how something as simple as AI based language translation and the internet changes the world.

I visit the neighbours when their kids have a birthday. It’s pretty cool to see 3 generations of family together , and I’ll admit I’m a bit jealous.
So coming from a washed up single old guy with no family and few friends, I’d say family and friends are the best thing you can accomplish in life.

I don’t have kids ,but how cool would it be to have a grandson pumping iron with you
