Not bad... Reuben is my favorite sandwich of all time. Best one I ever had in my life was in NYC when I used to work there. YEARS ago, don't even really remember where. Some place just west of Union Square I want to say... it was unreal though

Nah. When I'm more physically active than I am atm (lifting 3+ times per week, swimming 2 times per week) I can demolish both, but today the Reuben was for me, and the Cubano for my counterpart.

Escaped from the city to Brooklyn to my favorite sandwich shop - best way to chill on a Friday out of the office.

NYC checking in. There are a few good places, but the ones that leave the rye untoasted suck in terms of texture.

No, it has lots of house made corned beef. And the cubano is bacon fat confited pork shoulder. They are a celebration of animal fats, srs, even if the ratio looks off.

Court Street Grocers breh, so f'n good. Scheduled a 'meeting' there on Friday LOL.

On the pool - man I researched across this city and my best bet might be an indoor pool at Equinox, since I have a membership there. I read that at the outdoor pools in the city they never have enough lifeguards for the lapping lanes, like the ones in Brooklyn or Queens. An f'n shame imo.

For a nyc chain, sophies makes a really solid cuban sub srs.

Idk, I got my own pool so I don’t have to swim in estrogen pee.

Cubanos are nice - pork and mustard. The pork shoulder used in the Cubano here is confited in bacon fat - it's really f'n tasty, simple as.

Some Reubens in NYC are a non starter - they're on 'soft' rye bread. Pathetic. Toasted ones are way better, as this one is. And the bread is from one of the better bakeries.

Fun fact. the Cuban Sandwich doesn't exist in Cuba. only called a Cuban sandwich because cuban immigrants would sell pork sandwiches since it was very cheap to make

DM me next time you come to the city. Always happy to show a fellow conservative the better parts that most libtards in this city can't appreciate.

That is a similar origin story for many a fatty / cheap cut dish.

I myself love veal liver and caramelized onions and have since way before it was considered a desirable cut.

Solid meal brah, wood eat. And regarding everyone who mentioned Katz, same brahs, same. Last time I had one it was pretty pricey but worth every cent.

Getting Dr. B later today, local deli sells it.

The one thing I knock at Katz is the bread. If they gave it a bit more love it'd be even better.

It is an institution of course but some smaller places here really kill the Reuben man.
