Like an above poster said, the plant where it is made (there is only one) in Southern California has not been able to get the specific peppers they use. Drought in Mexico, and the peppers used are not the easiest to grow.

I've heard bottles are going for ridiculous amounts on eBay and elsewhere.

Some food trucks here in California have had their bottles stolen at their outside tables.

Yea it’s messed up because all the knock off brands now have sugar and totally screw up counting macros now, where the OG I don’t think had any calorie from sugar

yup, you are correct, that is actually how long the company that makes it in Southern California has not been able to get anywhere near their normal amount of the peppers they use.

ongoing 2+ year drought in Mexico.

they really don't want to change to another kind of peppers, cuz it will change the flavor that everybody loves now

Yep there's a shortage of the rooster brand, but there are plenty of off brands that taste more or less the same.

spot on. i started putting chili powder on eggs for the same reason when cutting.

some people have tried some of the alternatives, but apparently there is nothing quite like the original sriracha flavor.

this whole saga has been written about in both the Wall Street Journal and New York Times.

the founder of the company is a Vietnamese guy (of Chinese ethnicity) who fled via the refugee boats after the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam war.

the usual story - - - - he arrived with nothing and has been able to build up a multi-million dollar company.

they decided that while they could diversify and probably make more money, they just wanna concentrate on making this sriracha sauce and keep the quality and price the best it can be.

The brand is prob worth couple billion dollars. Can't fk up the branding esp with something as important as the peppers

I've had this one and sky valley before. Both are definitely different, but good enough. Not paying $100 for Sriracha.
