You're not really wrong there but the scope of Microsofts acquisitions also reflect their big Ballin ass budget. If Sony could spend the way Microsoft did you better believe they sure as chit would. It's easier for them to groom studios into producing the type of games they want, rather than giving them the freedom of how to create and release their games. Look up the story on insomniac/Xbox and sunset overdrive. Microsoft basically gave them permission to make anything they wanted, and keep the rights to the franchise, and we got sunset overdrive. When do you think Sony will let insomniac take a break from pumping out Spiderman games and make some passion projects?

Sony's biggest gripe with the entire Activision deal was that Microsoft would be bringing call of duty to more platforms. Sony didn't want that because it means less people forced into needing the PS5 as a cod machine, which Is a very real number, regardless of your feelings on cod. It wasn't even completely about Sony losing call of duty or being an Xbox exclusive. It was about call of duty being so accessible Sony became less important.

You praise a company that makes it's own mistakes and isn't perfect. They have killed off almost every decent multiplayer shooter franchise they had. people beg for socom to come back. Factions 2 is in development hell because they are trying to figure out how to make it a more profitable live service game. Meanwhile Microsoft just bought some of the most profitable franchises in all of gaming, and will just let them continue to do what they do and inject money directly into Phil and Bills cocks.
