Elden Ring: A True, Honest review after 100 hours.
Finally got finished playing after 100 hours, I really enjoyed my experience however it was a mixed bag somewhat.
Pros:
Most beautiful and interesting open world I've played in
Fantastic combat with rich options and variety
Value for money package
Story is very interesting, what you can make out of it anyway
Cons
Game is very obtuse, the plot and lore is very hard to follow. Side quests can be virtually impossible to understand and follow. Game really needed a quest log, and if any game needed a lore database it's this one.
Traversal sucks ass. Getting to certain areas can be such a pain in the ass, finding paths etc. Let me climb like in zelda please.
Things don't make sense. Who are these merchants? Who do they sell to? Because there's no sign of civilization anywhere in this world and the nicest thing you will meet will be a psychopathic human. Why isn't Ranni mad that I beat up Renalla? Why did I only beat up Renalla not kill her? What's this? What's that? What's everything?
Overall my thoughts are that it's a great game, superb fun, but it really lacks a level of polish that it would need to be in the discussion for GOAT imho.
I don't even mind the story being a bit hard to follow, but when you need to watch YouTube lore videos to understand what's going on, then they got that part wrong.

The story is just one of those 2deep4u clusterfks of nonsensical lore and plot holes.

I share OPs sentiments. It's fun in terms of combat and exploring the unique world, not knowing what's around the corner and then being surprised by a badass boss. Those aspects are top tier.
Personally I prefer a game that has multiple characters that talk and develop and a storyline that makes you feel like you're on a timer and events are happening that you and the people around you need to react to. A sense of urgency and stakes. The story itself in Elden Ring isn't that compelling and it doesn't establish the stakes by telling you why you need to do the things you're doing.
The world itself, while beautiful is also devoid of innocents who are just going about, trying to live their lives. Doesn't hold a candle to the amazing open world of Forbidden West imo.

Combat looks complicated for someone completely new like me me and I don't want to sit at my desktop for this so I really hope to see a PS5/controller gameplay and I hope the final game has some kind of tutorial or something lol

I like the isolation aspect. I actually often feel more immersed in that rather than a world with npc’s everywhere
I don’t think I’ve ever felt more immersed than in Metroid prime

One thing I noticed about Fromsoft games is they don't really have a story. It's just beating bosses and then the game ends.

I like that the story isn't rammed down your throat and I enjoy the ambiguity and people trying to decipher it on YouTube.
I didn't have a problem with traversal, but I did spend a **** tonne of time trying to get up on a part of a map only to find I had to go through Renallas story to get there.
Merchant's make sense, it's heavily implied that there are quite a few tarnished wandering about.
I think the characters and quest could have been done a lot better. Took me over a year to beat the game... no chance I remembered what bugalugs asked me to do 9 month ago.

GOAT tier game that is only second to Nioh1/2 in pure gameplay excellence.
lmao @ the retarded phegget coal man.
"game is great and supremely fun and the combat is top tier and the gameplay mechanic is amazing and the bosses are 10/10 and the open world is 20/10 and the itemization and weapon and build variety and the replayability are 10000/10 but too bad the storyline was **** so it's a 2/10 game for me since im a retarded low IQ darkie who fkn pays 80 to 100 dollars on videogames so I can rate it like it's a movie since i'm a movie gamer who'd rather watch his videogames than play it fuk me I'm a dikk sukking low IQ phegget"

Besides Bloodborne this is my favorite souls game.
Bosses are 10, combat like 8, builds and variety 10, open world like a 7.5.
And while I enjoy open worlds, I don't think it best suits a soulslike game. For a game that's just about fighting enemies, maybe it's better to have a smaller and more linear world like previous titles.
Now I'm not finished with Elden Ring yet but I played Ragnarok before this and so far, not a single boss in Elden Ring has given me remotely as much trouble as the last two Ragnarok bosses. I highly doubt anything in ER will challenge me as much but we'll see. So just based on that alone, you can't say Ragnarok is just an interactive movie.

Story was dreadful, I still don't know what the fuk it was about
Basically in a nutshell; there's this thing called the elden ring, go get it
I don't give a fuk about 'lore'
It's still the best game I've ever played though

gameplay > story for me, most video games stories are poorly written and 2deep4u anyway, specially sony exclusives, pale in comparison to other formats like books or movies
There was nothing complicated to ER story other than it isn't presented as clearly as other games, meat is in the gameplay *no homo

I like the Souls formula, I have and played all the entries so I knew what to expect but I think for an open world new mainstream IP they could have changed things up and added a story.
Again, didn't need to be a complex story with a million cutscenes, just give us something more than "you need to be the elden lord, kill all the demigods". I'm probably in the last act and I still don't know why the fuk I really need to become Elden Lord. The game doesn't tell you lmao
