Do you consider headphones essential?
I feel like I'm the only weirdo that goes to the gym without headphones in. I notice some people seem to ALWAYS have headphones on no matter what they are doing. Is it a game-changer?

I only use the PS5 headset when I play multiplayer.
Headsets for daily/gym use? lmfao no thanks ... I just use my Samsung air pods or my regular wired one.

I have Samsung buds for out and about usage and working out
2 more pairs of Beyer dynamic studio monitor headphones for gaming
And a pair of Sony noise canceling Blu tooth headphones I used to use for the airplane but the Samsung buds do that just fine now for 1/20th the size
So yeah, for me pretty essential

Have used airpods at the gym since forever.
for my home PC I have some $800 planar magnetic headphones hooked up to a decent dac/amp.
audio quality makes a huge difference in games/movies, like going from 1080p to 4k for your ears.

I bought some nice Sennheisers a few years ago and I had to return them, I couldn't go back to dynamic drivers after hearing planar for so long.

I used to view the music I'd listen to at the gym as an extra fuel source. Like I'd push some extra reps out, shorten my rest periods, or pump up the treadmill speed pushing passed discomfort, when the climax of a song would come on.
Now I just listen to Joe Rogan podcasts the entire time. Gym + Driving are the only times I get for JRE, otherwise I'm busy.

the best budget headphones for the gym are the
koss porta pros (they make a sport version too but the regular version doesn't move even when running)

koss ksc75

people have modded them using cheaper bluetooth headphones module and wiring them together if you want to get rid of the wire.
but damn the portapros give you that punch in bass with a little muddy vocals but sound GREAT for hip-hop type beats.
while the ksc75 are the exact opposite with a step back in bass and a step forward in clear vocals all for under $15-$20 depending on the sale. I like using these when im in the mood for dat adele style of singing.
i'd even argue people could use the ksc75 for gaming and at $15 have a better directional sound and clarity than those gimmick "gaming" headphones they spend $100-200 on.
