Was initially thinking about web development, but not trying to go back to college at 26, nor do I have an affinity for it.

Don’t join the IBEW in the south because the contractors can be just as bad. Stick to the north for the IBEW.

I Definitely urge you to do web development instead. You’ll not only not make much and feel broken by 40 but work with a lot of scumbag violent ex cons and really stupid people in the trades unless you do industrial controls or plant maintenance.

Trades isn't perfect, but it provide a lot and there's many routes you can branch off into.

The software engineer market is oversaturated at the entry level. And also, web dev lol. Web dev sounds like you just use a CMS (like wordpress) as opposed to actually being a front/back/full stack engineer. Also, anyone can do web dev which is a good and a bad thing - it's pretty oversaturated right now

LMAO bro thats horrible advice. The only people that get laid off typically are the ones who arent worth chit. Companies will find a place for you until the next big job if you're valuable to them. Don't work for a non union... you get half the pay and none of the benefits.

Electrical trade is a great trade to be in... join the IBEW if you do... schooling is basically free through the apprenticeship and you willl easily pull 80-100k as a journeyman with very little overtime. Union gives yearly raises that are voted on, and you get a decent pension. You can also become an officel managing electricians after a few years of experience. Very easy to move up in the ranks if you want to.
